Thakur has duped himself into thinking he’s a good bowler. I admire his immense mental strength.

Shaw
Agarwal
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Vihari
Pant/Saha
Jadeja
Umesh
Shami
Bumrah

Vihari's bowling will probably be needed a fair bit, especially when it flattens out as the game progresses.

Think Rahane's going to play some crucial knocks for us in this series and be our best batsman.

Whatever it takes!!!
Agarwal
Vihari
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Pant
Jadeja
Ashwin
Ishant
Shami
Bumrah

India are not taking a chance with Ishant and playing only 4 bowler on what could be a very flat deck from day 2.

India’s ODI squad for the SA ODIs: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli (Captain), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill.

Dhawan, Pandya and Bhuvi are back.

Shami, Shardul and Shivam out.

Rohit the only one still injured I think.

Good squad. Rohit can come in for Manish Pandey and that will be the ideal squad as of now..

Dunno how we ended up with him as an LO specialist, especially given our lower order batting woes in Tests.

Might be not be easy for Shami to make a comeback. I suspect Chahar may be ahead in the pecking order even though he's injured now.

Great, more games for Kohli. Bloke needs a bloody rest. And should have rested from the NZ ODIs irrespective of what happened to Rohit. Now he is playing non stop and will lead into an indifferent IPL and more questions on his captaincy just as we need him at his best for the WT20 and the Aus tour. Great. :(

It's now a meme on social media that India are chokers are ICC Events, with 8 lossess in semi-finals and finals with no victories since 2014 (don't think this includes the U19s)

Can really only speak for the men's team, but I reckon we've punched above our weight in ICC tournaments, not choked. Since 2011 our teams have consistently been flawed and often struggling to find form or the right combination heading into these events. Then somehow we defy odds and make it to the KO stages, where ultimately our cracks get exploited

Don't think India have choked at all in recent times. The women were perhaps a bit overawed by the moment on the weekend, but it's hardly a choke to get smashed by a better side. Under-par performance sure, but not a choke.

World cup semi final was a bit of a choke. No matter what the conditions, Rohit, Rahul and Kohli contributing 3 runs between them is unusual event. And then the way we shut down our scoring rate was choke work.

Its a bit of both really. The 2015 WC performance and maybe the 2016 WT20 performances were both us punching above our weights but I would say since then, its a bit of how nothing succeeds like success but the opposite. OUr teams have bought into the narrative of not doing well in the KO stages and we have frozen a bit, esp. in the CT final in 2017 and the WC semi last year. Same with our U19 side. Our women's side were definitely overawed and nervous yesterday, which is basically what choking is as well.

Yeah, that was the closest you could call to a choke.

EDIT : The WC 2019 semifinal top order collapse I meant

In 2015, we did pretty well to get to the semis unbeaten, and then Australia were always favorites. In 2017, the Bumrah no-ball and Pakistan playing the game of their lives killed us. In 2019, the **** middle-order was waiting to be exposed.

Saying that, we can't always hide behind the "oh well, we weren't favorites, we had XYZ weakness" excuse, you have to step up and play your best when it matters at some point. As long as we keep beating Pakistan in these events, I'll live with it, I guess.

See the thing is, I do not think any of the teams that won the WC between 1983 to 1999 were the best in the world in that format at that point. And they all had glaring weaknesses too. Did not stop them from being world champions.

I think the way Pandya, Pant and Dhoni batted in WC semi was choking. They just did not up the scoring rate. I'd wager that if the stakes were not so high, they would have won the game even after being 3 for **** all. We were just chasing 240 and had 8 batsmen (including Jadeja).
