Imagining four Archers = Frightening

4 Rieffels are more frightening than 4 archers

In all seriousness, the way archer bowls is quite dangerous because his inconsistent pace is virtually like having a good slower ball, except it's faster. The best variations vary speed by around 10kph which makes the batsman get to it a fraction late or early, which is often the difference between a successful shot and a wicket.

Seeing him bowl how he has in his first 3 innings of test cricket he looks the real deal simply because he has got his wickets/caused real problems by doing things differently. If yesterday was luck and he was down on pace because he was tired it is the best bit of fortune any cricketer could have in their career because he knows he can get a bagful by not having to tear in at 100% but he still has it in his locker if he has to use it. Frightening prospect, bowlers with this ability don't come round very often, hope and pray he stays fit.

Yeah it’s rare to see a bloke so young who can mix it up so well

Watching the highlights this morning, there was much talk about his pace being down because he was running up the slop to bowl. Maybe Broad got the slope in his favour as the senior bowler, but it was an odd decision by Root.

Archer says he runs up the hill at Hove so took it as he doesn't bowl downhill much and prefers uphill as he gets more overs.

Broad bowled better in the opening spell yday. Darren gough saying on talksport that the quicker bowlers always have come up the hill. Boycott said something similar too on tms

Surprised about Boycott, as he was arguing the opposite on the TV coverage. But yes, Broad bowled beautifully and was unlucky not to clean up. Maybe in the 2nd innings.
