How do you become a cricket scorer or statistician?

Days of Grace

I want to get into statistics and eventually live in England whilst my fiancee studies at University.

I have a masters in Art and feel that I might need to start all over again and educate myself in statistics and get another degree.

Or can I make some contacts in England and express my enthusiasim to work as a cricket statistician?

how do you get your foot in the door with such a career?

I can't imagine that a degree in statistics would be really necessary for cricket stats, I may be wrong however.

Stats degree will be utterly irrelevant. Even A Level statistics is well beyond that which is relevant to cricket.

If you can count to 6 you're comfortably ahead of a number of current Test umpires. I'm thinking in particular of Steve "Shakoor" Bucknor, the single most overrated individual in professional sport
