Most of them not bowlers and probably none of them quick but I'd say Basil D'Oliveira was the last qudragenarian picked at least in part to bowl seam up in a test match, with Les Jackson the last proper bowler among them.

Suspected, but didn't know about the stats of how rare this kind of feat has been in Test cricket. Amazing accomplishment for Anderson to be bowling at this high standard even to this point.

basil was certainly not the answer i was looking for... medium paced (arguably) batting AR. He would not have been picked as a bowler.

Wasn't Imran 39 or something in 1992? Did he play tests then?

Just how good is Jimmy? At 35, he was averaging 28 and many seem to rate him as if he is still averaging around that much. He is pulling Hadlee/McGrath like numbers since turning 35. Didn't break it down with and without clouds though, so idk.

Imran did play tests till 39 but his last great series as a test bowler was westindies 88 before his 36th birthday and was basically a part timer after his 37th birthday
