a massive zebra

International Captain
Two stylish batsmen with similar records, but from slightly different eras and different parts of the world. Who was the better of the two?

The Sean

Cricketer Of The Year
Viswanath was clearly an exceptional batsman, but if I can be "that guy" for a moment he played 17 Tests against depleted Australian and West Indian sides during the WSC years, scoring 1,488 runs at 64.69. His other 74 Tests (against "full strength" attacks) yielded 4,592 runs at 37.64.

That doesn't mean there were literally no good bowlers in those depleted Australian and West Indian teams, or that he didn't bat brilliantly against top attacks - he was a superb player. But Viswanath definitely cashed in heavily against those second-string line-ups to a statistically significant level.

the big bambino

International Captain
Rod Marsh saw a stray floppy white hat at mid on and told his partner not to take a quick single because Viswanath was underneath it.
