He was just what Indian cricket needed when he took over. Easily the most important captain we've had.

Things like day/night Tests are vital, and so are FC contracts but they’ve been languishing for years because the guys in charge don’t care or understand actual cricketing matters. I remember one relatively highly placed BCCI administrator once admitted that he had never watched a Test match in his life....
