Saddened to come across this news, way to young to have any memories of him directly but what a cricketer and never heard a bad word said about him so presumably a great human being first and foremost too.

Sad news. Thoughts and prayers with his loved ones. Hope some of the West Indians can bat like him in the next month.

I assume JBMAC watched him play. Anyone else here who did?

My strongest memory of him was, unless I'm mistaken, when he joined the BBC's commentary team when WI toured England in 1980. Very deep voice (think Michael Holding, but even more so) and very slow, deliberate delivery. Usually spot on with his observations, of course.
