I'd rather go:

Gavaskar
Greenidge
Richards
Crowe
Miandad
Border
Imran
Dujon
Hadlee
Marshall
Garner

Also Crowe, Richards, and Border were all useful 5th bowlers. Border won tests with the ball and Crowe opened the bowling at test level.

You could construct a 1980s team with all four all arounders with great bowling and batting down to 10 (and Marshall at 11 is no slouch).

Gavaskar
Greenidge
Richards
Miandad
Border
Botham
Dev
Khan
Dujon
Hadlee
Marshall

Thats a sick team. No spinner but who gaf
It is a very good team. Hard to see this team losing to any team.

Garner is obviously the better bowler but since you haven't picked any spinner Dev would be more useful on dry Asian wickets.

International Coach
Botham gets the 6 spot in the end pretty comfortably, but Greigy, Sobers and Mustaq all got a few votes each

Knott clean sweeps 16-0, the biggest blowout yet

Thommo sneaks in over Holding 5-4

Geoff Boycott
Sunil Gavaskar
Viv Richards
Greg Chappell
Javed Miandad
Ian Botham 5
Allan Knott +
Dennis Lillee 1
Andy Roberts 2
Jeff Thomson 3
Derek Underwood 4

Pick the captain for this side and then,

Choose the opening bats for the 1980s side
as well as the number 3
and the opening bowlers

Gavaskar/ Greenidge

Test match fifer Border is there... So is Richards tbf. They have decent finger spin trundlers if it ever comes down to that.

Did we pick a captain for the 60s side? I don't remember doing so.

Greg Chappell for Captain

Sunny Gavaskar and Gordon Greenidge
Viv Richards
Malcolm Marshall and Richard Hadlee (the best opening pair of any decade imo)

Bobby Simpson. Only Sean voted I believe. But could it be anyone else really?

But I don't think you actually asked anyone to vote for this? Post at the conclusion of the 60s vote:

i'm gonna ruin the McKenzie fairtyale run by voting for Peter Pollock

to go with Sobers and Denis Lindsay

Simpson
Lawry
Barrington
G Pollock
Kanhai
Sobers
Lindsay +
Davidson
Pollock
Trueman
Gibbs

will do a full update soon with all the teams, bowling orders and captains, have been a bit busy with some things.

Anyway, now onto to the 70s team. Everyone should know the drill by now

pick the opening batsmen
pick the number 3
pick the opening bowlers

this should be a good 'un!

Wow, this 1980s team looks so strong, mainly due to 4 cricketers in the middle who can hold their own with both bat and ball.

Ha, yeah I don't think you asked anyone to vote, I just made my own call. :)

I actually assumed most people would pick Sobers, but I thought it should be Bobby so wanted to give him a vote.

Greg Chappell to captain the 1970s team.

Gavaskar, Greenidge
Richards
Marshall, Hadlee

Interestingly, for all the talent available to the 1980s team, I don't expect the voting to necessarily be as competitive as some others. I reckon there are eight or nine blokes pretty much locked in for this side, with only a couple of slots genuinely open and up for grabs.

I agree. Qadir or pace bowler? 6th specialist batsman or all rounder? Dujon, Bari, or Smith?
Yep, pretty much. I'd add Marsh and Kirmani to the mix for the 'keeper slot as well - it could be the most open vote in the team (though I also get the feeling that most people have already decided on Dujon!).
