Hey guys,
I had an idea for a Draft whilst I was on vacation and I want to stake it out first because it might not work. Partly Anyway, the idea is as follows. It's title would be something along 'Pick the Other Guy's Team Draft'.
Basically, in each round you pick a player for a different Drafter, so in the 10 rounds, you pick one player for each Drafter, so along with the solo pick at the beginning/end, a complete team is made by having 10 people pick 10 players for you. Obviously it's paramount that proper teams are made, so I don't know whether to put in restrictions on team structures (6 batsmen, 1 WK, 1 AR, 4 bowlers or something similar) or just trust people to make sensible teams, and not fill a particular team with 11 Bangladeshi medium pacers - although that would be quite fun :P
I liked this draft idea because it adds a really strategic element - do you pick a rubbish player for a guy and hope he doesn't return the favour, or do you give him a good one and risk missing out on a player you want. I think it's also good because there is so much potential for interesting subplots amongst the interplay between all the drafters. In other drafts, you only have to think about your team, but in this draft, you have to think about every team, and hope people give you decent players.
Obviously, it would be quite a logistical effort, so I'll generate all the rounds before hand, but I'm torn on the way to operate the rounds: either on a simple scrolling system, so if Player A picks for Player B 2nd round, then he picks for C next round, D round after etc. (like the system Mr. Mister employed during his ODI draft), or on a completely randomised system. The latter would be more difficult logistically, but I could probably pull it off.
So, before I immediately launch this draft, I'd like to hear input from others: if they're interested, if they have any tweaks for the design, or if they have any questions. Also is my maths right? 10 or 11 drafters needed to make this work over 11 rounds?
*Would this round be better at the end?

- 11 drafters
- First round is like an normal Draft - you pick a player.*
- For the next 10 rounds, you pick a player for a different Drafter, changing each round. So over the 10 rounds, you pick one player for each Drafter.
- It will be a standard ATG Test draft with no other restrictions.
