No disrespect to Dhoni (i rate him quite high) but this thread has been real fun.

Thanks Ajnas hope you come up with more threads like these.

He use to carry his bat in a burlap sack
And visualise his innings on the rather flat track.
Oh, the selectors used to see him sitting in the shade,
Playing to the rhythm that his little mind made.
People passing by would stop and say
Oh my that little Indian could play

Go Go
Go Dhoni Go
Go Go
Dhoni be good

I may just be losing my place
as CricketWeb's resident poet
If Voltman's ode is not luck
and he doesn't, you know, just blow it.

The true test, I think, is to come
when he has the seeds of an idea -
and instead of just singing a song,
he must choreograph the whole choir.

Never fear, LE. It's not a competition.

A good job - I'd have docked myself two marks for rhyming 'idea' and 'choir'. Don't know what on earth I was thinking of.

The key to making things rhyme,
Is using the words at just the right time,
The sounds need to match at the end,
Or else your poem needs a quick mend.

OK, I think we should both quit while behind...

It is my belief that Inzimam, ponting, dravid, lara, kallis, vaughn, jaysuria and yoda have been accomplices of dhoni the jedi master.

Well, I must confess that it did take about 3 minutes out of my life.

Saying that, I put about the same amount of effort in to my GCE 'O' Level and got a grade 'A' myself (but that was nearly 40 years ago)

Au contraire, my journalist friend.

The key to making your verse rhyme
is to use this website all the time.
To ensure that you get it to scan,
just type out a long sentence and delete the words you don't need until you've succeeded in your plan.

There was a young Hindu named Dhoni
Who hankered for fresh macaroni
An eating contest was near
But his efforts were cleared
By Inzy, who ate a live pony.
