Cricketers who played against both father and son

Dendarii

International Debutant
Allan Donald played in the 1986-87 Australian rebel tour as did Kevin McKenzie, and Donald would later play test cricket with Neil McKenzie. However, it doesn't look like Donald and Kevin ever played in the same match on that tour, so that's a near miss.

If the criteria is playing against father and son but not necessarily in the same match, there’ll be dozens who played against Colin and Chris Cowdrey in the County Championship.

Also from that rebel series, but it's not a father-son thing, even if it is still different generations - Graeme Pollock played alongside Allan Donald, Brian McMillan, and Dave Richardson, all of whom played tests with Shaun.

Jack Blackham played Tests with both Ned and Syd Gregory, and George Ulyett played against them both.

Lance Gibbs played a few Tests alongside Everton Weekes, and an ODI with David Murray.

The Jim Parkses had a couple of near misses: JH Parks played his only Test in 1937 alongside Len Hutton; Denis Compton made his debut two matches later. Compton then played in JM Parks's first Test in 1954, but Hutton (England's captain in the next Test) was ill.

There was a famous occasion in the Derbyshire v Warwickshire game in 1922 when Billy and Robert Bestwick were bowling against Willie and Bernard Quaife

Sunil Gavaskar would have played ODI cricket against Don and Derek Pringle. Don having played against India for East Africa in the 1975 World Cup. Madan Lal and Viswanath would have played ODI against Don and Tests against Derek.

Wilfred Rhodes played against both Fred Tate & his son Maurice, he also played test cricket with BOTH of them.

There would have been a lot of players who played against both George Gunn & his son George Vernon Gunn. They played together 34 times for Notts ( 1928-32). They also both scored a first-class hundred in the same innings, against Warwickshire in 1931, George score 183, aged 53, & son George Vernon 100no

Ramprakash?
Darren Gough played with Stuart Broad for England, played against Stuart domestically and Chris Broad was still playing in the 90s, so, Gough would have played against Chris at one point.

I assume Gough would have done the same with Mark, Gary and Alan Butcher. Alan was still playing in the early 90s. May be even Ian Butcher as well.

Probably a fair few cricketers have played with or against Makhaya Ntini would have come up against Makhaya's kid. Thando has been around for a couple years now.

Did Tendulkar play against Geoff and Shaun Marsh?
Geoff and Shaun Marsh are the 11th father-son pair to play against India. Geoff played10 Tests against India between 1985 and 1992, while Shaun appeared in two. Interestingly,Geoff's first and last Test series were against India

Not international and nor did the topic say it, but a lot of club cricketers around my age would've played both Martin Guptill and Peter Guptill, who was a stalwart opening batsman at Suburbs in Auckland well into his 40s. In fact they may well have been playing club cricket at the same time (although not in same team as Peter was mainly 2nds by the time Martin was playing seniors).

Sir Geoffrey would have played against Micky and Alec Stewart for Yorkshire. There was a huge gap between the Test careers of father and son, maybe the longest ever.
