Cricketer connections

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Now I've no idea if this thread will work or not, but basically the idea is that you connect the cricketer you've posted to the cricketer previously posted with an interesting bit of trivia or a story, or at very least a "played together/with" connection.

Eg

Post 1: Frank Worrell
Post 2: Richie Benaud: Benaud and Worrell's were the opposing captains in the 1960 tied test
Post 3: Tony Greig: Tony Greig and Benaud shared many years together as commentators on Australia's Channel 9 cricket coverage
Post 4: Jeff Thomson: Sandshoe crusher story....
And so on...

So to kick it off, here is a cricketer's name to begin with:

Arthur Mailey

First Class Debutant

After Peel was sacked by Yorkshire he played for Accrington, from which nursery we have David 'Bumble' Lloyd

When Andrew Jones was dismissed New Zealand were in a bit of trouble at 4/99. However Hadlee scored one of his two test match centuries and Jeff Crowe scored one of his three test match centuries to rescue New Zealand and ensure the match was a draw.

Jeff Crowe has been an ICC Test match referee since 2004, and one of the matches he presided over Bangladesh v England at Dhaka in 2010. Hitting his highest Test match score of 91* in that match was Tim Bresnan

Tim Bresnan was hugely underrated, much like Graeme Fowler, incidentally another son of Accrington

NotMcKenzie

International Debutant
Graeme Fowler was the first England wicket to fall in their momentous innings of 82 at Christchurch in '84. He played outside a delivery from Stephen Boock, apparently not realising that that bowler simply waved his arms around without turning the ball.

Cricketer Of The Year
Boock was renowned as somewhat of a muppet with the bat, but he made a valuable contribution in the Sydeny test of 1985/86, making his highest score of any professional cricket with 37 as part of a 124 run 10th wicket stand with John Bracewell. This eventually came to an end when he was LBW to the bowling of Dave Gilbert

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
Dave Gilbert made his debut for a struggling Aussie team in the last Test of the 1985 Ashes series. His only wicket in the match was that of Richard Ellison.

Mitchell Johnson's 123* is the 16th highest Test score by a number 8, If you divide his placing in half you find the 8th highest score by a Test number 8 claimed by another tall, lean, tanned fast bowler, Imran Khan.
