Yeah, Sobers. In my opinion stands alongside Hobbs as the second greatest batsmen of all time, and when you throw in the rest of his arsenal it's a no-brainer.

Beautiful. Its such a delight to hear such things.

Forget his bowling, Sobers was one of the three greatest batsmen in the history of the game. The fact that he was also the most amazing all round fielder ever and a bowler of high merit makes him, in my humble opinion at least as big a phenomenon as Bradman in the game.

Someone commented when Bradman got 100 out of 100 votes for the Wisden Cricketers of the Century and Sobers got 90, "The strange thing is not that Sobers got 90 votes but that there were as many as ten persons who found some strange reason not to vote for him."

Sobers for me. I think Keith Miller wouldn't be too far behind Sobers. I would have him as Captain in my side with the other players already named.

Might as well end this one early as Sobers quite rightfully takes his place at number 6.

J Hobbs
S Gavaskar
D Bradman
S Tendulkar
B Lara
G Sobers

Voting for number 7 can begin now and run for 24 hours.

(Keep in mind that we still need a keeper)

I am waiting for someone to vote differenetly. I am not going to vote for Gilchrist. He is obviously a freak with the bat but IMO I think the keeper should excell at their main role which is keeping wicket therefore I am going to go for Alan Knott.

Wait a minute, wasn't knott picked because he was a better batsmen than Taylor who many considered the better keeper?

Wouldn't have a clue. I am not a huge historian of the game (always learning) but from what I have heard Knott was a decent keeper.

Gilchrist. Say what you will about his keeping skill, but anyone who can keep to Warne, McGrath and Lee isn't half bad.
