Compulsory helmets for Fielders within 7m of bat except slips in local cricket

Midwinter

State Captain
Hello

I was reading the local paper the other day and came across this. It is now compulsory for all grades of the local cricket association.

The exception is for fielders behind square on the off side, (but i suppose it will come in for that eventually as well).

Has this become compulsory across Australia or is it a local decision ?

Helmets within 10m of the bat save for slips has been the rule in Junior Cricket for years. Wasn’t aware of it extending to senior Cricket though

Makes sense given the kind of bats club cricketers have now days. Every weekend hack slogger can hit it ridiculously hard. People's reflexes aren't getting any better though.
