Chaminda Vaas v Nathan Bracken

Which one was a better ODI bowler? Tests clearly no comparison. Chaminda played a lot more ODIs but Bracken has a significantly tidier average.

Similar type bowlers who bowled away swing with the new ball and used off cutters later in the innings to great effect

I know who Migara & stephen would vote for, wondering about other opinions.

I like watching Bracken more than Vaas but will rate Vaas higher.

Personally, between bowlers with similar records, I will rate SENA spinners and subcontinent pacers higher for obvious reasons.

Both rocked impressive mullets at some stages of their career as well, remarkable similarities

I think Bracken was the better bowler quite comfortably in ODIs but Vaas had the better career eventually for multiple reasons.
This is more or less my thinking. If I had to pick one to play for me on any day it would be Bracken, but hard to look past Vaas playing 300+ games

I think both are quite underrated. Bracken is the more consistent over his career but it lasted a shorter period of time, while Vaas has had a much longer career with many different phases where he excelled at different things.

Yeah, I rate Bracken very highly, he'd probably be an loi ATG with a longer career.

Bracken was very good. Skillful operator with the new ball and always reliable at the back end. Can hardly remember him being taken apart

Bracken had a one solid phase as his career. Vaas has two career ending injuries sandwiched between three phases of his career. There were time he was meh, and we wondered what he was doing in the team. But when on song, Vaas was comfortably destructive than Bracken, 2003 WC is a good example.
