Very happy with the side given the constraints. Lohmann and Gilmour with the new ball to swing it corners, Bumrah to come in with a burst of very fast bowling swinging and seaming both ways. Tony Greig and Wally Hammond to support with very good swing and seam bowling. Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav to be the main spin threats. A wrist spinner well suited for SENA and an offie who will curb stomp batting in all other conditions and each of them to play the holding role where the other is a threat. Additional part time spin support with under rated offies of Cowper and under rated leggies of Marnus.

The batting will revolve around the ATGs at 4 and 5. Cowper to be the solid hold an end opener while Slater blazes away. Marnus will bat based on the situation and either block or score freely. Wally Hammond and AB will bat like the ATGs they are and will be ably supported by Tony Greig, the captain, who will either steady the ship or drive home the advantage. Gilmour and Ashwin will provide lower order support to the batsmen and also score good runs themselves. Kuldeep with a FC average of 24 and a FC century can also hang around and support the main batters or even Ashwin or Gilmour. The other two are definite #11s but when a side is this strong, it is a luxury that I can afford. :)

Line and Length

Cricketer Of The Year
My final selection is Mushtaq Mohammad (57 Tests; 3643 runs, 79 wickets) This leaves my team with totals of 483 Tests; 28,952 runs; 771 wickets.

Bill Ponsford / 2122 runs @ 48.23; 7 centuries
Herbert Sutcliffe / 4555 runs @ 60.73; 16 centuries
Ted Dexter (vc) /o 4502 runs @ 47.89; 9 centuries; 66 wickets @ 34.94
Virat Kohli (capt) / 7240 runs @ 53.63; 27 centuries
Mushtaq Mohammad /o 3643 runs @ 39.17; 10 centuries; 79 wickets @ 29.23
Ben Stokes /o 4428 runs @ 37.85; 10 centuries; 158 wickets @ 31.41
Ben Foakes wkp / 332 runs @ 41.50; 1 century
Maurice Tate o/ 1198 runs @ 25.49; 1 century; 155 wickets @ 26.16
Hedley Verity o/ 669 runs @ 20.91; 144 wickets @ 24.38
Frank Tyson o 76 wickets @ 18.57
Bruce Reid o 113 wickets @ 24.64

Very happy with this line-up. Two ATG openers followed by a batting order that has depth (first 8 have all made Test centuries). The bowling attack is strong. Tyson and Reid at their peak were formidable and they have pace support from Tate, Stokes and Dexter. Verity is an ATG left arm spin merchant while Tate (who bowled both medium-pace and spin) and Mushtaq provide support on a turning wicket. Kohli, an ATG in his own right, would love to lead this team.

Looks decent, one ATG batsman might have helped a bit.

Remaining - 6 Matches , 3430 Runs , 18 Wickets.

Jock Cameron to complete my XI.

Barry Richards
Herbie Collins
Viv Richards (c)
Everton Weekes
Stan McCabe [5]
Seymour Nurse
Jock Cameron (wk)
Malcolm Marshall [1]
Clarrie Grimmett [4]
Tom Richardson [3]
Allan Donald [2]

Unused (after trading 3000 runs for 100 wickets): 10 matches, 2439 runs, 16 wickets.

Pretty happy with that team. 3 ATG batsmen (2 Richards and Weekes) and McCabe almost a great, ably supported by Nurse and Collins. Lot of strokemakers throughout -- Fancy a partnership between the 2 Richards followed by counter attack from #4 to #7 who are all strokemakers too. Bowling led by 3 ATG bowlers (Marshall, Donald, Grimmett) followed by Richardson another great of his time. Imagine a batsmen facing the pace, cunning and skill of Marshall and Donald simultaneously and then imagine spin test by one of the greatest leggie who still holds record for fastest to 200 wickets. The 4 bowlers together have a whopping 74 fivers to their name 204 games. Cameron as one of the finest glovemen produced by South Africa will be safe behind wickets too.

Clearly I went for getting 11 great players rather than paying big for one or two and having some lesser lights.

G.Pollock, Lillee, Laker, Davidson and Worrell are still ATG though. QdK is probably the second best #7 in it. May, Trumper, Hazare and Taylor are legends for their nations too. Harris was quality in his short international career.

3/4 of the original pace quartet with O'Reilly a decent ring in

Plus a top class top 4 including the 2 best openers ever!

The honeymoon ends a bit from 5-7 but they could all do a job in this side. Berry I think was a great keeper
