Best ODI performances

Zaheer has been always the biggest destroyer of Indian bowling in the Indo Pak cricketing history..i think out of all the Pak batsmen he averages the most against India...
Actually no...Zaheer has 612 ODI runs @ 51.00, however Javed Miandad has 1175 runs @ 51.08, Shoab Malik has 1554 runs @ 51.80 and Salman Butt is the winner with 992 runs @ 52.21 (criteria 10 innings and 500 runs)

lol...Butt practically scores runs against Ind every match.I would think that Zaheer's record is more credible though. He got his runs at a time when India actually had a half decent bowling attack although the umpiring was probably a lot worse.

Sachin....India vs Australia at Bangabandhu National Stadium

run out for 141 off 128 balls and then he takes 4-38 off 9.1 overs as the 6th bowler

Statistically the best all-round ODI performance

Paul Collingwood came in at 3-179 against Bangladesh, so no real pressure, and he scored 112* off 86 balls; he then took 6-31 off 10 overs….

He was only playing as a replacement for the injured Gillespie IIRC. Listened to that one in the car, back when you could get car radios with a Long Wave band.

No, but it's had an honourable mention, given that he's only played two Tests.

I may have (probably have) missed it, but has anyone mentioned Sachin's 200 yet?

Klusener got 6/49 against SL. He scored some big runs in the same match too.
well ok if 54 runs is considered "big runs"....great all-round effort though as he did bat at # 3 scoring 54 off 41 balls and being first change bowler taking 6-49 including 4 of the top 6

I am Surprised no one has mentioned this so far-

India in the 1983 World cup is facing a do or die shootout in their last game against Zimbabwe with Australia. They Simply have to win.
India batting starts but go down to 17-5 after all the top order falls. In walks Kapil Dev and Smashes one of the greatest knocks ever scoring 175 not out out of 266 in Just 138 balls with the second highest score beign a 24.

He then with the ball bowls his quota of overs at a economy rate of 2.90 and takes the final wicket to get India into the Semi Finals.

Here is a article about that game-

Kapil clubs India to victory

One of the best World Cup innings came on a small stage in 1983.

The grandeur of Lord's may have played host to India's memorable 1983 World Cup final win, but the momentum of that unlikely victory was founded in far less salubrious surroundings.

For Lord's read Tunbridge Wells. For defending champions West Indies, read World Cup debutants Zimbabwe.

But despite Zimbabwe's inexperience on the international stage, India found themselves starring down the barrel at a final match shoot-out against Australia for a semi-final spot.

The Indians slumped to nine for four on a devilishly damp Kent surface.

And at 17 for five Zimbabwe would have been seriously eyeing their second win of the tournament after an opening victory over the Australians.

At that stage Kapil Dev was still at the crease.

The captain had walked out when the fourth wicket fell with the score on nine, furious with the lax cricket that his top order had played.

He set about repairing the damage, slowly at first, putting on a sixth-wicket stand of 60 with Roger Binny.

But again disaster struck and his efforts looked wasted when Ravi Shastri played a rash shot and within the space of an over India had again been rocked on their heels, 77 for five becoming 78 for seven.

India reached lunch at 106 for seven and after the break their captain returned to the middle and played with renewed vigour.

Kevin Curran was the first to feel Kapil's full force being hit for successive sixes.

Those shots lit the blue touch paper. In partnership with Madan Lal, Kapil put on 62 and he reached 100 in the 49th over.

After registering the only one-day ton of his career, Kapil played with a rare freedom that is only expressed in the heat of battle by the very best.

With Syed Kirmani at the other end scoring a steady 24 off 56 balls, Kapil launched an astonishing attack on Zimbabwe's bowlers.

In the final 11 overs he scored at almost seven an over in what remains a world record ninth-wicket partnership of 126.

Kirmani's 24 was the second highest score behind Kapil's 175, a knock that included 16 fours and six sixes.

Zimbabwe mounted a strong response but fell 31 runs short.

Kapil was unable to equal the magic of his batting in his bowling, but he finished with the most economical figures in the match, and his sole wicket, Zimbabwe's last, wrapped up the win.

Ponting's 166 and Gibb's 175 in the same match. Forget the pitch, Ponting was friggin awesome in the match. Gibbs was soemthing else.

Great call, should have featured a lot earlier. There is no video footage available for this match, BBC apparently went on a strike that day. :(

Has some one mentioned the Bevan knock he played in the World XI game which didn't count? That was really, really gritty.

****, that is SOME performance. There was one v Sri Lanka in 95-96 where he hit a last ball four to win a game when 4 runs were needed.
