Probably just pipping the useless Dinesh Mongia's 159* against Zimbabwe.

Warne's 4/29 against S.Africa in 99 WC was huge. Practically changed the game around where S.Africa looked as if they were cruising it getting to 48 without losing a wicket.

He followed that up with his 4/33 in the final against Pakistan.

In the 96 WC, against the WIndies, in the semis, he was also immense. He took 4/36 as the WIndies fell 5 short of our total. Simply no better player on the biggest stages.

Amarnath's 2/27 and 46 (92) against England in 83 WC was huge. Practically changed the game around where Gatting and Gower had good starts.

He followed that up with his 3/12 and 26 (80) in the final against West Indies.

Man of the match in both semifinal and final. Simply no better player on the biggest stages.

Pretty sure that it's the highest ODI score for a Test side by a batsman who never played Test cricket.
Yes, but Coventry from Zimbabwe maybe also deserves a mention as he scored 194* in 2009, which was 4 years after he played his last of his 2 Test matches...

Well, every four years, you're going to get a player who's second to none on the biggest stages, right? Amarnath, Steve Waugh, Inzi/Akram, Aravinda etc.

Aravinda De Silva's 66 (47) and 1/3 against India in 96 WC was huge. Practically changed the game around walking in at 1/2 after Sri Lanka had lost both Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana.

He followed that up with his 3/42 and 107 (124) in the final against Australia.

How about best series performance...

Zaheer Abbas vs India in 1982...slow start with 10 off 10 balls in first game, then 118 off 86, 105 off 82 and finally 113 off 99..so 346 runs @ 86.5 with SR of 124.9

Zaheer has been always the biggest destroyer of Indian bowling in the Indo Pak cricketing history..i think out of all the Pak batsmen he averages the most against India...

CC Lewis' 18(16) and 0-38(In 6 overs at 7.2 rpo) against South Africa in 92 WC was huge. Practically changed the game around walking in at 187/5 after England had lost Gooch, Botham, Hick, Lamb and Fairbrother. .

He followed that up with a sensational bowling performance of 0-52 and a golden duck in the finals.
