But, yeah, it's like the kit NZ wore for home ODIs from about 1997 to 2000.

You are right. Dunno why I thought that, but I remember the kit from that awesome triseries in Aus with SA in 98 or something. Don't tell me I am wrong about that one too. :)

EDIT: Just checked. That was teal and black too but in the reverse with the black on top. This was your home jersey back then?

I think that retro NZ shirt is from circa 2000. At some stage they possibly even had red/orange numbers on the back, which along with the teal/black, created a pretty staggering contrast of colours.
