There is no way the players deserve one, they have underperformed so poorly this season, there is no way they should be rewarded for that.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Yorkshire's 4d batsman of the season: W Tendulkar. Old hand despite being young and our leading run scorer. Looked in trouble about halfwya through the season but lifted with excellent performances at the end but couldn't save us from relegtion. S Weir was probably the most consistent but never went on to make a big score. A Habib is worth a mention.

1d Bat: P Boxall. Daylight second, then the rest.

Bowler 4d: Tough call between Nazir and Ballard. Ballard was underused by Yorkshire's manager and injury had him out for 6 weeks. Nazir was the most consistent despite only taking 1 5fer. Ballard clinches this in taking the same (or there abouts) amount of wickets but in a lesser period of time.
Simpson took a lot of wickets and so did Gough.

1d Bowl: G Hamilton in his last season.

All rounder: S Weir by a mile.

Players who I hoped would do something but now I wouldn't trust with taking out my garbage: J Laney, C Hemp, P Wilcox, Z Kapil Dev.

Player of the season: W Tendulkar.

Yorkshire would also like to bid a fond farewell to H Simpson and G Hamilton.

I'd type more but can't be bothered...

International Coach
Worcestershire had a mediocre season, but some outstanding individual performances. We usually pride ourselves on committed team efforts, so hopefully we won't have to have 3 or 4 individuals carrying us next season....

OD Batsman of the season goes to A Louden who scored 532 runs at 53.2. A remarkable model of consistency considering he was never not out, and his high score was only 93. Terrific effort.

OD Bowler of the season goes to P Sudesh who took 19 wickets at 21.68. An excellent effort although he did go at 5 an over.

General comments about OD- The stats actually make quite good reading. What they do not show, however, is the strike-rates of the batsman. Too many times this season we plodded our way to scores along the lines of 220 for 4 off 50 overs, etc. Hence, while the averages look ok, they do not tell the full story. A Ahmed, who averaged over 50, was the only bowler to concede less than 5 RPO for the season.

Overall OD player of the season is A Louden.

4D Batsman of the season is A Lovell. He had an outstanding season, 809 runs @ 53.93 making him arguably the batsman of the season in Division 3. Indeed, his form actually fell away towards the end of the season, he looked set to crack 1000 runs at one point, after a high score of 234.

4D Bowler of the season is equally straightforward, I Cook taking out the award. His 49 wickets at 18.92 was a marvellous return, putting him among the best bowlers in the division. Had six 5-wicket bags.

Overall 4D Player of the season caused a lot of consternation, but eventually went to A Lovell. He and Cook were pretty much neck and neck though. Lovell got the nod because the batting was always expected to struggled in season 6, and his contribution was above and beyond what was expected.

General comments about 4D- apart from these two it was a disappointing season. Only 4 batsman averaged above 30, and all of the main bowlers averaged in the low 30s. Lovell and Cook carried the team.

I Cook would also take out the overall bowler of the year award

Overall batsman of the year is U Lowe. I wasn't sure whether there was any point in having these overall awards, as the best performers tended to be specialists, so the OD and 4D awards seemed better kept separate. Nevertheless, Lowe gets the nod as one of only two batsman (the other being all-rounder A Hall) to make a meaningful contribution in both forms. He averaged 49 in OD and 33 in 4D. In the end, this got him the nod ahead of A Lovell, who averaged only 18 in OD, and Louden, who didn't play in 4D.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This was very difficult to judge, because few players made an impact in both forms.

In the end the winner was something of a surprise- A Hall, the captain.

Manager Thierry Henry had this to say-

"I think when people look back on the season, they will rememer the batting of Lovell, Lowe and Louden, and the bowling of Cook and Sudesh. They were the outstanding features of the season. However, for me, there was one player who kept on performing for all 20 weeks (well, 19 actually), and that was Hall. He had a lot of responsibility as the captain and senior all-rounder, and he just kept on putting in".

Hall finished the season with an OD batting average of 38.8 and a bowling average of 30.86. In 4D his batting average was 35.64 and his bowling average was 33.
