Australia's Best ODI team of all time

h_hurricane

International Vice-Captain
Would he really?
It depends on the team make up right ? 2 out of Bevan, Hussey and Jones are good enough to play through the overs. If you replace Jones or Hussey with an out and out hitter, that could be the difference between a very good total and an imposing total.

Not saying he has done enough so far. May be 2-3 years down the line depending on how his career goes.

The normal awards that everyone else has
You've already got Symonds there as a hitter, plus Hussey and Jones could really hit out when needed.

I'd take their consistency over Maxwell.

I'd probably have Jones in the best over ODI XI just ahead of Clarke. For about 5 years he was Australia's standout ODI bat (and close to the best of the world) which is something his overall career stats by his own standards don't really reflect.

I know his record's pretty decent, but Jason Gillespie never comes to mind as being a particularly great ODI bowler. Don't think he ever got a MOM in that format and through timing and injury played very little World Cup cricket also hurts his cause. Would definitely rate Bracken above him who for a few years was a master in the format.

Greg Chappell's ODI claims are a hurt a fair bit by opting not to play in the 1983 WC. Sure, he was doing that a fair bit in that period but it should still count against him and probably sounded the death knell for their WC hopes that year.

S Waugh? Really? Watson was comfortably better than him batting and bowling, and there are plenty of other better middle order batsmen, eg. Jones, Smith, Martyn, Clarke
