The pitch is definitely doing enough, maybe a reaction to the KRO games. SA need to pitch it up more, been too short of a length all day IMO. Qld done well to weather the storm.

edit: that's what happens when you pitch it up ffs

I wouldn't expect an NFL helmet to. Nothing in them that deals well with rotational force, and that's the case in a lot of other fields unfortunately. Only over the past four or so years have some of the standards for motorcycle helmets been revised to take this into account, though the issue has been known for much longer. Institutional inertia and cost of change are massive stumbling blocks everywhere (design issues aside).

He was concussed falling running between wickets last year. I know from personal experience impacts from falling can be very heavy but aside from how frequently he gets hit he seems to be extremely susceptible, and is getting more so. Surely the doctors must be on the point of telling him to pack it in.
In Cordner’s case, he was made aware of the potential ramifications of further concussions and retired on that basis

Doctors had cleared (or were about to) him to play

Big difference is that he was 29, had achieved pretty much everything there is to in rugby league, is still being paid for another 2 years and there’s no way to avoid getting a head knock in his game

Would be a very difficult decision for 23yo Pucovski to make

The issue a lot of times is once someone has a couple of concussions the chances of receiving further such issues increases exponentially. I was reading an interview with Dale Earnhardt Jr of all people on the subject, he believes he probably had about 20-25 concussions by the end of his career, the last couple of crashes that convinced him to retire were relatively innocuous comparitively speaking, but the damage from earlier in his career made him much more likely to get concussed again.

For Pucovski to have that amount of problems at a much lesser age is worrying tstl

EDIT: on a less grim note, why does it have to happen that almost everytime the SACA bowlers do so well I am otherwise occupied?

So with the 3 day lock down just announced in Hobart due to ONE covid Quarantine case, will the WBBL still be on.?
It's for the Hobart area only.
Lock down begins at 6 pm AEDT.

Jake Doran is ****ing woeful. Honestly, how does he get a game anywhere? See how he set up for that ball? It’s embarrassing

He's desperately unlucky when it comes to how he's received them concussions, cracked his head on a doorknob at home, hit by a ball that ricocheted, fell head-first into the ground when running between wickets after his bat got stuck.

Michael Clarke's solution to the opening dilemma is to either recall Khawaja or Harris, or let Head open and bat Wade at 5.

anyone asserting that marcus harris should be anywhere near the test squad should be lobotomized lol

actually no they shouldn't, for one who advocates for marcus harris's recall can't be lobotomized, for there is no brain in there at all

Letting it to get his Head, huh....

Khawaja not doing his claims any good by batting four for Qld tbh.

Also, even allowing for the unusual circs of three or four of pucovski’s concussions, it still means he’s copped half a dozen from getting bonced. Setting aside the health effects for a moment, it demonstrates a flawed technique vs fast bowling and wrongly suggests he’s not a test top order player.

Hes had 3 total concussions from the short hall, most of which occured after copping some playing AFL, which makes it much easier for even the slightest bang to concuss you. Kids not bad against the shortball, just more susceptible to concussions then most people.

I see Tasmania's Riley Meredith has been RESTED for todays sheffield shield game against WA for " Load Management"

He is Quoted in the local WA paper today " The body is feeling fine but I'm unfortunately not playing in the shield game because of load management, HOPEFULLY I'll be back for the next one".

Poor bugger, Ten overs on Friday must have cooked him.
