Manager David Kearsley:

We at Middlesex C.C are proud to announce the arrival of several young rookies. Over the Winter we have scouted all over the country to find the best of the best. Without further adue i will announce the squad:

A Strauss
P Weekes

M Creese
J Dairymple
A Razzaq

Bowlers
D Follett
C Rendell
T Bloomfield
S Cook
A Fraser
T Hunt
C Keegam
A Laraman
P Tufnell

We arent expecting big thnigs this year but within 3 seasons we do expect to be back up in Division 1 in both forms of the game.

As Manager i will be taking control of the side but im also a specialist in Youth Players. We have drafted several people under 20 and have 9 players under the age of 21. I will be giving special attention to an up and coming batsman by the name of Alex Robertson. He currntley averages 52.38 in Second Team cricket from 20 Matches. He comes from South Australia and played for the S.A Under 17 squad before being drafted.

Thats all from me. Please stick around as there is only 35 mins until the first ball will be bowled in what i hope will be an exciting time at Middlesex.

David Kearsley After Match Report:
Durham v Middlesex
County Championship - D2 - 19 Apr 2002

While the First XI played well for half of the match we struggled overall. We where rolled for less than 150 in the first dig before resticting them to a lead of just over 130.

I was pleased with our secoind innings and expecially pleased with the form of Veteran Opener, P Weekes. He bounced back after a duck in the first innings to complete a wonderful ton.

On the bowling side of thnigs A Fraser fought well with the nut. He took a bag of 5 in the first innings before backing it up with a 2 for.

Although we had 'some' good individual perfomances we couldnt win the game. Eventually loosing by 3 Wikets.

Kearsley on Robertsons future:
He still has a very healthy record and although he hasnt fired yet he has only just arrived in England so give him some time and he till show you what he can do. As for a game in the firsts.... well he is one of the top 2 or so rookies fighting for a spot in the side so it will depend on form and injury.

Middlesex v Nottinghamshire
County Championship - D2 - 24 Apr 2002

The Team played very much the same as the first game. Not much to say really. Fairly dissapointed but there was some individual perfomances worth pointing out:

A Razzaq 4 For 51
O Shah 59
P Weekes 91
A Strauss 63
D Nash 51

The bad part was that no one could double up and perform well in both innings.

The super cup matches are coming up and well our 1D batting is nothing short of average. So im gonna give a few young guys the nod. Im hoping Alex will be selected but i still ahve to have a sit down with the president Eddie McGuire and see what his thoughts are.

LOL trust me this idea isnt original. I just got bored of palying ICC so i thought why not try a story. I could have used my Kent side in 2009 but they are way to good and would make the story boring. So using Middlesex hopefully will make it interesting.

Today was a much better team performance. We went out there in a positive frame of mind and kept them to a chasable taget thanks to some economic bowling from A Fraser. O Shah shined with the bat to make an unbeaten 96. Robertson again made a start but didnt go on. Denver showed his class with a fast 31 not out.

Kent where just too strong for us today. After yesterdays win we where looking to keep on that track but the Kent bowling attact ripped through our middle order and destroyed any chance we had of resurrecting our innings. After the first innings we where in with a real chance, bowling them out for 215 in the 49th over was great. Three wickets a piece to Razzaq and Fraser helped with the demolition job. Our tob order played well with a solid opening partnership before a massive collapse which saw the team be rolled for 126 in the 36th over. The last game of our Super Cup campaign and we where really looking to finish on a high. After 'inserting' Hamps to bat we restrcited them to a very chasable score on a great batting pitch. Once again Fraser and Razzaqq where the best bowlers. In the chase we where looking great with a solid ton from O Shah. Robertson didnt even get a start this time falling for a lonely 6. Stanley made another 38 to suggest he will be a solid performer in the seasons to come. In the last 5 overs we needed 6 runs an over with 3 wickets remaining. It wasnt to be with Hamps taking the wickets needed and progessing into the Quarter Finals.

Overall happy with Stanleys efforts but Alex is still struggling in the big time. He will go back to the 2nds for the next few games.

Lancashire won by 89 runs
Man of the match: G Lloyd

Alex scored 31 playing for the 2nds.

We then had to take on Durham in a County 4Day Match. The game was a good learning curve for the young team. THey ended up loosing by 93 runs but it was closer than that suggests.

ALEX HITS SOME FORM

He smashes his way to 74 and then 120 in a great all round performance. These figures improved his stats to:

37 Innings
1512 Runs
47.25 Average

(2nd XI Level)

With this encouraging boost of form Alex may well just be pumped strait into the First XI. (as they arent doing so well atm)
