One of Hobbs or Hutton. While both are ATG, no way both should be lock in test ATXI considering the bowlers they faced and quality of bowlers produced in last 50 years. One of them should be paired with Gavaskar/Smith.
No ,hobbs played in the worst pitches in cricket history before WWI,never got to play internationals at his peak, hobbs ain’t overrated ,it’s bradman>>hobbs>=Steve smith>Hutton>Hammond>gavasker ,As for opener it’s hobbs>Hutton>everyone else,Hutton played against possibly better bowler than gavasker had to face o rilley, may be the best or at least no 3 spinner of them all, lindwall,Miller, valientine, bill johnston and others and had his one arm short after wwii and didnt play for 6 years cause of war too and gavasker struggled against full side of aus including dk lillie and was ok against full wi attack averaging bit over 40,his stats are worse than hobbs who played in most difficult batting wickets before wwi and Hutton who got received a serious injury to his arm while taking part in a commando training course. His arm never fully recovered, forcing him to alter his batting style and also played against some atg bowlers.

I don't know why, but that particular expression has me laughing. Also intrigued. How do you end up with a short arm while still having a hand?

I meant to say Hutton was averaging over 63 before wwii.
During the war, he received a serious injury to his arm while taking part in a commando training course. His arm never fully recovered, forcing him to alter his batting style.

As an overall cricketer and not just a bowler he is better than most on the list. Surely better than Murali or Mcgrath or Sachin or Lara as a cricketer. Viv and Smith has their fielding in addition to their batting. I'm actually surprised Gilchrist has 0 votes.

I'm really surprised that specialist bowlers and batsmen here have any vote

why no Sangakkara and Pollock or Akram or Botham or even Kapil as an option?
Sanga not as good as Murali.
S Pollock not as good as Kallis and Steyn.
Akram not as good as Imran.
Botham and Kapil not as good as Imran and Hadlee.

Sanga is an overall better cricketer than Smith, Greame, even Lara , Richards and Tendulkar. U even have Gilchrist there.

Pollock's a bettter cricketer than Steyn and as good as Kallis.

Akram being a bowling allrounder means he's better than steyn, mcgrath even murali u already have Warne

Botham and Kapil are not as good as Imran and Hadlee but still better than many there.
