21st Century International Draft - Voting

Line and Length

Cricketer Of The Year
Many thanks to all participants. With such a shallow pool to select from it became quite a challenge - particularly during the later rounds. I apologise for any hiccups I had when setting out initial rules and when posting updates. Your assistance in correcting these was much appreciated.
And now for the voting stage. I have divided the teams into 3 groups, 2 of 4 and one of 5. I have put my team into the group of 5 where I have included all the participants who added player stats.
All participants are invited to select the two teams that they think is strongest in each group (other than the group that they are in).
Groups are listed as they were posted (both in order and in format). I added stats to my team so it competes wither other stats included teams.

This is the second draft in a row with people putting up a funky tournament system and I don't like it at all. What's the problem with "pick the best 3 teams" which was standard for so long. This is adding more work to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

Group 3 required different formatting and I had troubles posting after the first 2 groups, so have posted Group 3 separately.

Sorry you disapprove. Personally I found it hard to select 3 teams from a large group of teams. I think the problem involved in this system is the time factor. I will leave the first round of voting open for 3 days then I will post the leading pair from each Group for the final voting stage. If you don't like the work involved in the first stage, feel free to abstain, then you can can pick the best teams in the second stage.

Not only is this way less fair, it's also more work. I don't want to abstain, I just don't want to be splitting hairs between all the middling teams. We're not playing for Sheep Stations here.

The sad thing is that there is a more involved voting process for an online forum game than there is to elect the most powerful person in the world.

Tough calls. Some very decent looking sides with some obvious strengths and weaknesses. Just like yer actual test cricket, in fact.

I like KK's batting a lot, but his seam attack, with (much as I love him) SCurran as first change isn't perhaps as strong as the competition. Plus, obviously, I'd have to hold my nose if I voted for any XI with Pakistan's javelin record holder as its spinner.

Mags has a great seam attack and, with Southee coming in at 11, a nice depth to the batting that probably compensates for a slight dip in quality in the lower middle order and I think Pothas's XI has a better balance than ataraxia's, whose top order (Sehwag excepted) looks maybe a little thin and probably comes second in the spin department too.

In Group 2 Teuton has a great top 7, but his seam bowling looks as if it might possibly be too reliant on Steyn, with the other options all a bit boom or bust.

Loving Mick7's depth to his batting with Woakes one of the better 9s one will ever see and probably the best spin options of the four XIs, but his seam attack is merely good rather than great.

HB has a great bowling attack, but the batting has Root and AB maybe carrying more weight than one would like. Trundler's top 3 is golden and has a very decent bowling unit, but his middle order maybe isn't strong enough to compensate for his tail's rat-like qualities, with any runs from 8 downwards looking a bonus rather than an expectation.

On balance then:

Group 1: Pothas & Mags

Group 2: Mick7s & hb
