So, couple of developments today on the county circuit - Wayne Parnell signs on for Northants for the entirety of the 2021 season, i suppose it’s a big bonus to have some continuity these days with your overseas players and to have someone available for all competitions throughout the season could be important. I’d imagine he’ll make a bigger impact in the shorter forms, but will add to the pace bowling depth with rotation in the CC, looks a steady if not overly exciting signing.

Scott Borthwick, who recently returned to Durham, has been announced as the new County Championship for the, taking over from Ned Eckersley. Since the start of the 2019 season Durham have had Cameron Bancroft and Eckersley as skippers, I’m sure they’ll be hoping Borthwick becomes a more permanent leader.

Finally, I think the most exciting signing, is Derbyshire’s move for Billy Stanlake that’s just awaiting final approvals. Another overseas available for all formats for the full season, which I think will be massive for a club like Derby. A bowler capable of high speed, Cricket Australia i’m sure will be keeping a close eye on his workload with games over here coming thick and fast, the Aussie quick keen to develop his red ball cricket aswell. Expect him to make a big impact in all formats.

I see minor counties suffer from lack of geography lessons too.

Cumbria being in the east is quite something. It's further west than most of the counties in the west.

Some of the clubs already streaming their preseason games.

Always interesting to see who has tinkered with their batting techniques and which random medium pacer has put on 5 mph in the off-season.

Saqib Mahmood had Ali Cook out twice yesterday.

Following the preseason games. https://live.nvplay.com/ecb/# Some thoughts from what i've seen.

Notts terrible batting vs Warwickshire all out for 131. Doesn't exactly instill confidence that they are going to improve on their terrible 2019 and 2020 4 day batting. Very loose from the likes of Clarke, Duckett et all.

Leeds/Bradford running up a big score vs Yorkshire. Cornall and De Caires with tons. De Caires (athertons son) contracted to Middlesex. Cornall looks well organized too with some good straight driving- would think he'd pick up a contract with a county at some point based on this knock.
Matt Fisher of Yorkshire has definite England potential. Not sure at present he or Yorkshire are getting the best out of himself though. Doesn't have the fitness across a day and match

Sonny Baker , a somerset academy player, looks a prospect. Opened the bowling in their warmup vs Worcestershire. A little raw and occasionally erratic but good pace and movement. Wouldn't have thought he'd play much this year
Looking forward to seeing more of Will Smeed of Somerset too. Balanced young strokemaker. Looks to have that touch of class that could make him an England player at some point in the future.
Adam Finch of Worcestershire looks good. Tall, Good strong action, bowls close to the stumps. Doesn't move the ball prodigiously just a bit either way which is ideal. Definite test potential.
