1. Era of four great all rounders :- Imran, Botham, Hadlee and Kapil. They really brought a great balance to their teams with their bowling and batting.

2. Emergence of Shane Warne at a time when the art of Leg Spin was almost dead.

Totally irrelevant and off-topic, but I'd just like to say that 'Sir Middle Stump' is an awesome name.

I would like to add my weight to 2 of the list described above.

The change from underarm lobs to over arm bowling was a huge change for the game.

Also Shane Warne turning leg spin into a popular art form. It also paved the way for spinners to play a bigger role in one day matches. Spinners or part time bowlers were there just so teh 50 overs could be bowled on time. Not so much any more.

I also think that the LBW change has to be there. I would include the South African ban but not the rebel tours. The Murali no ball calling would only be significant if he was banned from playing afterwards. The first world cup should be there.

My top 10 would be

1. Change from lob to overarm bowling.
2. Ist test 1877
3. Bodyline
4. Change in LBW law
5. Helmets and other protected gear.
6. First world cup
7. Banning of South Africa over apartheid
8. Packer's cricket series
9. Shane Warne's impact on the art of spin bowling
10. Use of the third umpire - batsmen may now not get the benefit of the doubt that they once got.

how about the test series in 60/61 Australia vs WI....test cricket was dying a slow and painful death and this series was the start of a revival

That one has been on my mind.

So far helmets, Kerry Packer and WSC, the introducation of OD cricket, the explusion of South Africa from international cricket, bodyline will definatly be there at this stage.

What did people think about the additation of the first Test ever played?

It should get a mention. Was just about the start of cricket and its tradition.
