Good result for the ****s. Good to see Ritchie keep control defending a reasonably small total. To be honest, de Bruyn and Telemachus got us out of jail with the bat and the team's batting performance is a little worrying.
Is there any reason de Bruyn didn't bowl? I'll check the orders in a minute, I'm guessing I forgot to put him in the bowling orders....

Masters XI v Jamaica
Jamaica severely hindered the preparation of Masters XI, winning by a comfortable 8 wickets in Casston. Brenton Parchment (63) and Danza Hyatt (68 not out) each struck half centuries, while the Masters XI bowlers struggled to build pressure in the failure to defend 164. With the bat too there was little brilliance on display by the Masters XI. Only Lance Klusener got into stride, as he hit 4 sixes in an innings of 70 from 46 balls. Opening the batting, he was the key to a total of 163-6. It was far from sufficient.

Mathemagicians v Scotland
Manan Shah led a very impressive bowling unit in a much-improved allround performance by the Mathemagicians. Aside from Gavin Hamilton's 36, there was little to speak of for Scotland, as they reached only 118 all out within 19 overs. Manan Shah finished with excellent figures of 3 for 19 from his 4 overs. He bowled well without reward up front, but returned to excellent effect toward the end of the innings. In the meantime Neil Pickup operated with good control and counted Hamilton in his cheap 2-for.
The Mathemagicians chase started in the worst possible way, with a wicket-maiden by John Blain. Matt Luff (0) flashed a cut shot to backward point to end the over. Blain was unfortunately unable to participate further, however, as he injured himself in the second over, which cost 14 runs at the hands of Jamee Gray (33). Again Sanath Jayasuriya threatened to erupt with some big shots, but on 17 he lofted Haq to Hamilton at long-off. Garven quickly followed for 6, and Gray dragged a slower ball from Wright back onto his stumps. At 56-4 the game was evenly poised, but Alex Crampton (29 not out) and Morgan Burridge (37 not out) were stunning in their counterattack, taing particular toll on the bowling of Scottish captain, Ryan Watson. In one over Burridge hit 4 sixes and 2 fours off Watson's medium pace. Mathemagicians raced to victory with 63 balls remaining.

Dazzlers v Kent
Dazzlers sealed another very tight finish with a spirited effort in their impressive T20 Cup buildup. The margin of victory was only 3 runs. Captain Kingsley Clapham took up the responsibility of bowling the final over, with Kent needing 10 to win, and he allowed just 6 runs. It was a clinical finish to round off a very professional effort. Dazzlers built their innings around Chris Butler, who notched 75 from 46 balls with aggressive running and only 7 boundaries. He and Dubb-Lynch put on 105 for the fifth wicket, taking just 60 balls to do so and taking advantage of the bowling of Ryan McLaren and James Tredwell. The eventual score of 174-7 looked a very healthy one, but seemed under threat when Kent raced to 35-1 in the 3rd over.
Stephen Young kept his cool to score a direct hit and remove Martin van Jaarsveld (23) and then repeated the act to get Darren Stevens for 6. Rob Key anchored the innings to prevent a collapse, and enabled some aggressive middle order cameos to set the game up for a thrilling finish. Yasir Arafat then shone with the bat for the second consecutive innings, scoring a six and a four off the penultimate over, bowled by Chris Schofield. The visitors engaged in the outstanding last over showdown, coming up just short.

Turistas v Trinidad and Tobago
Despite a dramatic fightback with bat and ball, Turistas were defeated by Trinidad and Tobago by 4 wickets. Adam Gilchrist was out to the first ball of the match, driving Ravi Rampaul to the cover fielder. It was the worst possible start for the home team, and unsettled the top order greatly. Pete Young was forced to play within himself during an innings of 31 from 21 balls, and was ultimately stumped off the spin of Badree - 84-5. He was soon followed by Martyn Corrin, though the CW Green allrounder middled a couple of legside slogs before his demise. Turistas required similarly big hitting from the unlikely Robert Cribb, Paddy Gundry and captain Xavier Rose. The three made for a very entertaining death period, and 99 runs came from the last 57 balls.
T&T faced the tall task of scoring 200 to win, but Lendl Simmons got the innings off to a scorching start. He score 3 boundaries in the first over and dominated an opening partnership of 43 in 5 overs. William Perkins was caught at midwicket for 4, then Daren Ganga perished without a run to his name. Turistas were back on top, but could not sustain the pressure against Simmons and Darren Bravo. Their partnership of 59 lasted 21 balls before the former chipped a full toss back at Corrin for 54. Corrin then took the big wicket of the in-form Kieron Pollard (0), disappointing as he lofted his third ball to the long-off fielder, who had just been put back on the ropes.
Turistas were again in the race and they consolidated their position with 2 more quick wickets. The sixth man out was Bravo, caught at deep midwicket off the impressive Corrin. Bravo hit 2 sixes and 5 fours in his innings of 67 and needed just 37 balls. When Rose claimed the catch it spurred an excited celebration. T&T still needed 62 runs and had just 3.2 overs left to score them. But the momentum swung once more, decisively. Fast bowler Bochat was twice swatted over long-on by Richard Kelly. Then the unlikely Gibran Mohammed got in on the action, hitting 4 sixes in the 19th over, bowled by legspinner Paddy Gundry. Bochat then began the 20th over looking to defend 12 runs. He started with a yorker, but lost his line and length, and Kelly again cashed in, clobbering his third six over cover, then pulling a low full toss over midwicket to seal the result.
