Fictional cricket or football leagues anyone?

Hi,

I'm VC. Just signed up here today, so I'm not all that familiar with how things usually work around here. I just have a couple of questions - do people run fictional cricket or football leagues on this site? I'm not talking fantasy cricket, but leagues where people run their own little fictional tournaments, simulate matches and members take part as team managers or players. And if so, on which part of the forum? Because I'd really like to get involved somehow. Haven't yet been able to find what I'm looking for after digging around a bit.

We used to, but they stopped several years ago.

People have tried to do what you are talking about since then, but they have inevitably died off (yes I know talking about this makes me sound like a right hypocrite, but meh).

Thanks for your response. I could perhaps start one and help get it back on track if permitted to do so. I've been running fictional leagues on PlanetCricket for quite a while now, and have only ever abandoned one league out of the twenty-odd I've run during my time. But which part of the forum would I be allowed to do so in - the CW Games, Fantasy Cricket or any other? There doesn't seem to be a separate section for fictional cricket and football leagues here like we have on PlanetCricket called Cricket Simulation & Stories.

I'm pretty sure I've never heard of this cricket simulation business. It might have happened once, long ago, in what seems like a previous life now.

Sometimes I awake at night with flashes of what feels like a distant memory, too intangible to hold onto, but no, I come to my senses and realise there is no lineup to be selected for rugby today. There is no Furball performances to make fun of. There is no Avo Lover's Cup. It was but a dream, and like all my dreams, faded into dust.

They're quite the rage on PlanetCricket. People run all kinds of fictional leagues ranging from real life cricket or football tournaments, premier leagues based in all kinds of countries (I've got covering 16-20 different European countries), leagues based on stuff people would like to see happen in rl such as Cricket at the Olympic Games (I've got one that starts in 1896 itself and stretches all the way 1928 as of now), and even leagues where you can sign up as a player to play alongside rl or fictional cricketers. I suppose it's a nice way to pass the time for people with little in the form of a social life, or those who are simply quite bored of people's daily nonsense.

On an unrelated topic, why am I not being able to post VMs or send PMs to other members?
no one can send PMs here.

you have to have a certain post count to vm someone, can't remember exactly what it is, because a couple of years ago some arsewipe decided to spam peoples' walls with porn using alt accounts.
