As stated in the forum annoncments about a week ago the use of copyrighted images is a breach of copyright laws so unless you got permission to use that image from the owner/site etc then you can't use it.

How come this has surfaced as of now. I mean, its been fine otherwise since i've been here.

I know its an infringement of copyright, but...it i suppose its hard to get snaps of cricketers and/or cricket board logos or flags!!!!

I always thought that images used as avatars on forums were not part of copyright laws...

I mean you go to most forums and u can use pretty much anything as an avatar...

This Masterblaster is your reason. James, Andre, Myself + others all thought it was fine as long as it was on a forum..However James wantted to make sure so he asked a few people in postions that would know and he was told that it wasn't allowed.

Nope that's happening alright - You obviously wasn't here a few months back. Basically it's search engines sending out little robots (as such) to scan websites so to keep their information updated.

Probley be here no longer than a week

I have a suggestion, for avatars, Cricket Web could make up a gallary full of cricket ones, since this is a cricket forum that people can use.

Some forums have them (other sporting ones).
