How come it sometimes shows you a message saying "Last edited by ..." and sometimes it doesn't? And how long does a post remain editable? I'd like to have the option of editing the starting post of certain threads for a longer period of time than it currently allows.

You currently have 24 hours to edit a post.

If you edit a post within a minute of posting it, the "edited by" will not show up.

Ah, OK, thanks. :)

More than 24 hours would be nice in case of certain threads where the first post needs updating.

It's the minority more than the majority. Where it suits, feel free to report the post and let us know what you want to happen, and a moderator could be able to do it for you. :)

24 hr editing rule is vital. When people post **** claiming a test match to be over after day 1, they need to not be able to edit their post after they're proven wrong by day 5.

It is important that we are able to quote and mock them.

Haha, yes. I had mainly those stats-based opening posts in mind, that need updating with time.

I've had a post just edited by a moderator where half a sentence was cut out which totally changed the tone and meaning of the post. Very poor moderating.

It's in the "morgueb and ben" thread. It was just a joke that's now been cut in half which changes the tone of it. If it's deemed offensive it should have been deleted altogether not cut in half to alter the context.
