People know who you and Matteh are. They don't know Shounak and most would not be able to connect Ganguly with Shounak. So why refer as Ganguly when that would only mean who you are referring to would not be conveyed to much more people.
Had heard any number of people refer to Shounak by his surname too (as I have with virtually all regular CWers TBH) so presumed people'd know who I was on about but anyway...
**** people, don't make yet another thread about Richard.

Personally I think people who report posts are real sad cases. The only exception being if the person who is the subject of unprovoked abuse reports it themselves. Any third party reporting should be ignored as no one is in a position to be offended on someone elses behalf.
Personally I only exceptionally rarely report posts directed at me, and often enough report spam\ads and insults directed at others.

Didn't think he was that bad to get banned permanently. Members on here get away with worse.

To clear this up, Richard isn't a moderator so what he says isn't the full story.

That was apart of it yes, but not the complete story.
True, apologies for making it perhaps appear that the ban was a reflection purely on this one-off (something which seems to have caused a little trouble). I'm well aware that it wasn't.

I should have made it clearer that this was merely the final straw the broke the donkey's back.

The lack of maturity of some members here is staggering. What amazes me even more is that the immature ones are invariably those who demand the respect of us older people and who keep telling us that they shouldn't be judged on their age.
No, they're not, there's any number of people who tell some older posters not to be ageist, and not to take the utterly ludicrous "those kids have to earn respect by getting older". It's a ridiculous attitude and anyone who speaks out against it is completely in the right.

To suggest it's only immature people who say that is, well... frankly anyone who suggests that will always sound like a stuffed-up old man (or woman as the case may be).

Nah. Thread'll probably be closed soon anyway. And I've got CW work to finish which I haven't had a chance to complete.

hmm, I had wondered about the potential (or rather lack of) mileage left in this thread myself....

TBH I like fiery but the ban has been coming, many times have I seen james say to him "come on fiery you don't want to get banned again". It's not like it came out of the blue.

On the whole perm-Fiery thing, though, perm was just as bad, if not worse. Fiery obviously ruffled a few feathers though - I don't think he ever meant any upset, but the simple fact that he disagreed with what the boundaries of acceptable conduct were meant that he had to break them. I don't agree with every forum rule, I would imagine not many do - it doesn't matter, I respect them so try not to break them. It's James's forum, and if they are the rules laid out, then they need to be respected. Much like when my Dad comes to my house he doesn't put his cup on the couch even though he would in his own, because I don't allow it! Er, anyway...

I report spam, and besides that, just stuff that irritates me. Have hardly rreported anything in the last few months, but received two replies from the mod team when I last did...that was appreciated actually.

Frankly, I find the witchhunt which Perm was persuing Fiery - reporting everything he posted, constantly trying to get a rise from Fiery - absolutely despicable. Perm's gone about this quite a subtle way, but I find it hard to understand why he hasn't been censured for his continual jabbing away and thinly veiled attempts to get another member banned. This whole situation disgusts me. That Fiery didn't have enough sense to ignore Perm is even worse - but if you look through his posts you will see that he TRIED to use the ignore facility on Perm, but couldn't and Perm refused to use ignore on Fiery. Of course he would, how could he get Fiery banned if he was on ignore. This whole situation is a total farce.
While I dropped out of CW for awhile due to work committments, since I've been back I've seen numurous posts from Fiery "pleading" for Perm to put him on ignore....personally, I think both are excellent posters, however from my perspective I don't see how Fiery can be banned while Perm gets off scott free (no offense Perm, as I said I like posts from both of you)....I'll say that CW is worse without Fiery's knowledge and input and I'm less likely to visit without him participating in what is an excellent forum for us cricket tragics ;)

Just a suggestion for James, why not bring Fiery back, however ban both Perm and Fiery from responding to each other directly....if they break the rule, they're gone....then I think all CW wins as we want their contributions without their continuous venom for each other....

It should be noted that Fiery had just served something like a three month ban, so he was still on probation of sorts and hence on very thin ice.

but anyway...
Erm, the reason it gets into discussing about the confusions you create is because you keep creating them. It has been done in the Athlai thread too now with you mentioning some one as John who no one knew was known as John.

So was Murphy. So was Burpey. So was Ganguly. So were one or two others.
Murphy - was scapegoated.
Burpey got bored of CW and posted porn. James did offer to reduce it to 2 months, then Burpey called him a soft ****. Yeah fair enough.

Personally, I can't really see how anyone can fail to understand why he was banned (Fiery that is). Every other post was an insult to some person or another and likeably as me may have been on occasions I think that he was pretty detrimental to the forum atmosphere on a number of levels. It wasn't as though he wasn't warned or given any chances as well, James contaced him numerous amounts of times about everything, yet he still persisted.
