I know I've been picking on him a bit lately, and I know this isn't the right way to look at it, but he's not been doing himself any favours recently. He's already goaded someone as usually level-headed as Neil into at least two posts that were positively venomous in tone, and he's been stirring things up whenever possible, the classic example being his unprovoked jibe at Nath the other day.

He's been heard to describe himself as a "CW hero" on MSN in the last few days. We've tried every approach to get him to reconsider some of the stuff he's saying and still nothing changes - I'm not so sure the abuse is unwarranted. He's dished a fair bit of it out himself.

He's 14 though, just overlook it and take his posts with a grain of salt.

I can do that with Andmark. But the age shouldn't be an excuse when there's PhoenixFire showing that a 14 year old can post like someone years older.

What does PF have to do with anything? He's an exception ot the rule and a quality catch, but that does mean we should start holding all other 14 year olds to his lofty standards? No.

And I'm not talking about the rules either, I'm talking about the general picking on Rodgie even when he doesn't deserve it. Cut him some slack, he's 14 and if you want, do what about 20 other members have done and put him on ignore. But don't go around taking everything he says seriously and getting offened by the stuff he says because it looks alot worse on you than anything else.

ffs, this is promoted as a family forum and when young people come and act like they are 14, people react in shock horror, I don't get that at all. Again it's one thing if he is breaking forum rules, but afaik he isn't.

Exactly. This might be a family forum and all, but if you're not mature enough to post in a respectable and well-balanced manner you shouldn't be posting. He can't use the fact that he's 14 to post whatever the hell he likes.

I'm not saying he shouldn't clean up his act, lets face it, it's woeful, but I'm sure he'll improve with time. I'm commenting on the over the top reactions of people who have to stop and consider that he's merely 14 and shouldn't be getting so offended by every stupid post he makes. In the past, especially in the battrick forum, heaps of people just put him on ignore and that was it, there was no big scene or drama and things worked out fine.

It's all well and good ignoring someone when he's just posting something inane or annoying, but when he's actually posting something inflammatory like Rodgie sometimes has, it's a little harder. This whole thing started snowballing when I stuck up for Nath, and Rodgie responded with more abuse - it's hard to just ignore that and let either someone else or yourself take the hit when it's unprovoked and unwarranted.

I agree it's hard, just the other day a 10 year old told me that Hitler should have finished me off, so what was I going to do? Beat him up? No, I just remembered that I was the older one and much more was expected of me. I ignored it and it's the exact same thing over here. He's a kid and you shouldn't let his comments get to you.

Fair enough. Not really much I can say in response to that, other than admit that I'm being a bit immature.

I know how you feel, kids come up to me and tell me the exact same thing. It hurts but you have to show your age.

Back on topic, I've almost got 1,500. I won't get it for a while at my rate but anyway.

Haha, you gotta admit that kid has spunk (too bad he's going around saying filth like that though).

That's not the issue for mine. Sure, tell him you don't approve when he does that and I don't have a problem. But in this thread for instance he's hardly posted. Thomas' attack in the TF was largely unprovoked, likewise Mat was out of line in the CW XI forum. If he says something offensive or stirs things then let him know but I think a lot of it is just the senior members picking on him.
