This should be very interesting.

There should be a lot more of these type of things. Id love to see Bangladesh and Zim included. Not just to get more and better players involved, but to give them opportunities to win multi-team international tournaments.

Eh, Bangaldesh would easily beat these guys. They are at that uncomfortable territory now where they demolish everyone else, but still get demolished by all the Test nations.

I'm assuming these are all official ODIs?

Thats what I meant. Bang should win easily, but it would give them good multi-team tournament victories and other nations access to a decent team on a semi-regular and competetive environment.

Probably less useful for the minor nations though, as it all but removes the chance of them winning. Once they had won it once, the BCB would send nothing more than a reserves side out there. You saw what they did to the Scots, albeit at home.

EDIT: Plus Bangladesh need to move on. At the moment the only thing that is stopping them playing more regularly in international events are the boards - scared of seeing them get hammered, and who can blame them. But Bangladesh have now proved that they are a cut above the rest (to be confirmed with a victory in Zimbabwe later this month) and, while they should still play the lesser nations, should be looking to compete elsewhere.

so you reckon the other test nations shouldn't bother with playing these Minnows?
that's basically what your saying, and to spread the word of international cricket, you need these minnows to compete with the test teams.
yes they will whitewash them, but it will give all minnows the extra touch to perform better.

Minnows need chances by playing Test playing nations the only thing stopping most of these nations from not improving hugely is they are not getting the oppurtunity to get Test Status I say this as since Bangladesh started out they have improved incredibly with experience. All a Test Nation need's is a good structure and Administration staff and they are set I firmly believe that the likes of Ireland,Scotland and the Netherlands have these structures I don't believe Kenya does though.

The point im trying to make is that these sides are goign to get nowhere if they do not play the best sides in the world throw them to the wolves they are only going to improve and become better outfits.

The young cricketers need chances and this has happened admirably with Bangladesh who are argubly the strongest U19 team in the world as they are all playing FC cricket which is something even the bigger nations can not match.

Good to see that Bangladesh aren't playing in this tournament. They're closer to the major test-playing nations than they are to the minnows IMO.
As for throwing the minnows to the wolves, that may not work since none of the minnows have the talent that Bangladesh does. The WC should be an opportunity though.
