So the six added for NZ are:
Todd Astle, Matt Henry, Henry Nicholls, Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips and George Worker will join the squad following the conclusion of the NZ A tour against India A.

Ish Sodhi and Tom Bruce will travel with the squad for the ODIs, having been named in the Twenty20 squad. Ross Taylor and Worker will return to New Zealand following the conclusion of the ODIs.
I know Tastle outbowled him in the first NZA one dayer but disappointing not to have Sodhi in the ODI squad anyway.

I imagine he gets the nod ahead of Sodhi due to our deficiencies in the allrounder department more than anything else. Still, pretty rough on Sodhi. He's improved quite a bit.

I have soft spot for Tastle but to think he's going to contribute with the bat in ODIs or T20Is is extremely optimistic, if the selectors are thinking that. Maybe could get a few runs out of him down the order if he played tests, but quick runs at the end of an ODI or T20, nah.

Southee did make a 50 and Henry a 40 in the series last year tbf. Also the glorious Jeets near-50 in Tests. The problem is Tastle will forget the first rule of Engine Room and try to halt our middle-order collapses the old-fashioned way, maybe contribute a scrappy 10 to a slow 50 partnership for the 7th wicket with Latham.

Shardul preferred over Shami/Yadav? Not sure I agree with that unless it's to not **** with their Test bowling.

Happy for Karthik, he's been scoring lots of runs. KL missing out stinks.

Spin twins ash and jads can gtfo, very pleased with their continued omission.

Didn't NZ tour India for an ODI series already earlier this year? The one where Mishra picked up 5 wickets (only to never play again) and NZ got all out for like less than a 100.

15 overs for Tastle to show Straw Man how he's going to go about it with the bat. Just pretend Nicholls is actually Latham on 29* and it's probably decent scenario training for how it's going to be.
A pretty good Santner impersonation down the order there by Tastle - provided the slow scoring rate and supposed batting chops to still not do much to stop the collapse.

It's not his fault (or Santner's), it's just annoying that none of our bowlers are able to contribute much with the bat.

Willem Ludick and Neil Wagner are leading a revolution that brings South African conscientiousness and neatness back to the domestic engine rooms this summer, apparently. It won't show up in any New Zealand sides for years though, unfortunately.

Jeez I wish George Worker wasn't such an idoliser of Vettori and a believer in the potential of his own bowling sometimes. Williamson will bowl Worker rather than himself, you'll see.

What problem do the selectors have with Sandeep Sharma? Why is Shardul Thakur given so many chances ahead of Sandeep? Why is he not even in the Board Presidents XI?

In the tour game against Australia, Sandeep played for the BPXI, while Thakur didn't get a game. I suppose the selectors weren't encouraged by how he was slapped around in that one.
