Sixes 2.0 is how Cricket Hong Kong is rebranding the popular tournament, which finally returns to the calendar after five years and whose reincarnation will reflect the new digital and social media universe into which it is being reborn.

The governing body on Wednesday confirmed that the Hong Kong Sixes will be held this year, on October 28 and 29 at the Kowloon Cricket Club – a welcome boost for the local game after several years of false starts in which the tournament’s return was halted by a lack of financial backing.

Marking my calendar as we speak

In its heyday one of the World's best cricket tournaments. Let's hope the rebirth of the HK Sixes is supported by the global cricket community and regains its former glory. The KCC is a brilliant Venue for the Sixes. It's a shame that the HK Government does not understand sports events sufficiently to provide the backing it should .

I will never forget that one tournament at the peak of RSA's great allrounders rise in the mid or late 90s. They had 5 all rounders and Jonty Rhodes kept wickets. Guy made all the difference diving around as the keeper. Made it seem like they had 2 more fielders.

Favourites

Squad announcements continuing for this revival cricket event. Any TV Coverage ? Pakistan look competitive . Will the new HK Sixes match the buzz of previous tournaments at KCC. And who will start favorites?

The first teams confirmed to join hosts Hong Kong in the eight-team tournament include Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand Kiwis, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa.
History will also be made with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) taking part for the first time as part of their initiative to grow the game in China.
The remaining participating teams will be announced shortly.

That should be one team yet to be announced. Doesn't sound as if it will be England if the MCC are going.

I reckon Collingwood would be up for this if he didn't have some coaching assistant role with England's Ashes set-up. It seems like the sort of thing Colly would do, impressing the locals with his stodge.

Some decent names there. Ben Laughlin, John Hastings, Peter Fulton (captain), Ronil Hira, Brad Cachopa, and PEWS's boy Arjun Nair.

Also Samit Patel is apparently going to be repping MCC.
