Probably worthwhile splitting this off from the Australian Domestic Thread.

Starts tomorrow with the 'Sydney Smash', Sixers vs Thunder, and here's my ultra-brief run-down of the teams (squads shamelessly copied and pasted from the BBL website):

Adelaide Strikers

Joel Paris is out injured, which is disappointing. Doubtless they'll force Agar into a middle order role, pick Bancroft over Whiteman, and leave Cartwright out entirely.

No idea what their reserve list looks like, but when you have the entire Test attack on your books for a comp that overlaps with the Tests, seems a little silly. Especially when you don't contract Smith based on availability. A theoretical attack of Starc + Hazlewood + Lyon + O'Keefe + Botha + Henriques would be pretty ridiculous though. Very excited to see Billings, too.


Sydney Thunder

Feels a batsman short, but I'm loving that Alister McDermott is a thing again. Watson out for the first part of the season, Morgan for the later half.

Hartley out with a broken finger, Jay Lenton his replacement. Rohrer captaining for the Thunder tomorrow night:

I think they've done a minor tweak for when your players are on international duty. remember in the second bbl when the sixers had no more than 12, and probably only 11, players fit at one stage

i cant believe the heat still dont have bowling

dont forget that perth will try to force turner, agar and cartwright into the one team

Didn't know that Malone was with the Stars. The other rookie is Shorye Chopra, a UAE batsman who is playing for Hawthorn-Kingston.

Young fella from our club, Shubham Bhargave, is the community rookie for the Renegades. Super stuff.

When he took a screamer in the warm up match the other day, the comms did refer to him as "The magic man".

They weren't referring to his back though, which gets injured quite a bit.

Easy for Qld, SA, & Tas & WA fans, but how do NSW & Vic fans decide which of the franchises from their states to cheer for?

I'm looking forward to this. Andrew Tye, Aiden Blizzard, Michael Neser, Dan Worrall (if fit) are the players who I felt were a bit unlucky to not make your best XI's Dan.

Yeah, I didn't realise either, but he's up on the SuperCoach list and pulled a couple of names from there when I couldn't find them listed on the website. From our local association initially -- I've umpired him -- so it's really weird seeing him get so high up.

Think there are still clouds over Behrendorff and Coulter-Nile with regards to injury as well.

I'm a Renegade man, but we have the same issue as previous years - only Bravo can bowl in the top 7. So if we go with the line-up that you've got there, we are a bowler short if one gets some tap, or pick the extra bowler and end up a batsman short with Rimmington at 7.

If the wicket is a bit slow, don't be surprised to see Hogg get some tap.
