Get some lineups in and I'll do some trial matches. pick your first XI, then give me a bowling order and other random instructions (when to declare, enforce follow on, nightwatchmen etc)

Note: the trials won't happen until I get the final database. Which won't happen until the draft is over, obviously. But you can still submit lineups nonetheless.

centurymaker

International Captain
1. Andrew Strauss 4 - batting aggression
2. Neil McKenzie 4
3. Younis Khan 5
4. Kevin Pieterson 6
5. Ijaz Ahmed (4,5) 5 batting, 5 bowling aggression
6. Ian Blackwell (5, 4) 5 batting, 5 bowling
7. Chris Read (wk) 6 batting
8. Mitchell Johnson (2, 2) 6 batting, 8 bowling
9. Sunil Joshi (6, 6) 4 batting, 6 bowling
10.Andre Adams (3, 3) 5 batting, 6 bowling
11. Morne Morkel (1, 1) 5 batting, 8 bowling

the numbers in the brackets are the bowling orders for the 1st innings and the 2nd innings.
1) declare if we reach 475 in the 1st innings.
2) Nightwatchman is Sunil Joshi, send him in upto 5 overs still left to play. use him for any of the batsmen from no.3 to 6.
3) Bat conservatively in the first 15 overs of the 1st innings (if this is possible)
4) Give Morkel and Johnson 7 overs each in the opening spell. Ahmed and blackwell shouldn't have more than 7 over spells.

Chris Rogers 4
Jacques Rudolph 4
Matrin van Jaarsveld 4
Owais Shah 5
Michael Hussey 4
Andrew McDonald (3) 5 9
James Foster + 5
Shane Warne (5) 7 9
Ryan Sidebottom (2) 4 10
Dale Steyn (1) 6 10
Muttiah Muralitharan (4) 6 8
Numbers in brackets are the bowling order
Bat = batting aggression
Bowl = bowling aggression

McDonald essentially to remove the shine from the new ball, only really want him bowling a max of 10 overs per ball (unless he's bowling beautifully, in which case, keep him on)

Always enforce the follow on

Use common sense with regards to declarations and nightwatchmen. Sidebottom is the nominated nightwatchman if one needs used.

Nah, I'll clear injuries after every match.

2 trial matches sounds reasonable. Should take a couple of days max.

Bowl Mendis for long spells with the other bowlers in support.

No other specific tactics for the trial games.

Still haven't decided on a final XI yet, but hey, a trial would be good.

Mathews & Hussey to be used as partnership breakers. Give Vinay some old-ball overs, take the new ball with Davies & Naved.

Vinay is the nightwatchman. Use him if there's less than 5 overs left in the day, for any of the top 7, including Afridi.

Declare in the first innings if we get over 550. Do what you think is best on the second innings, preferably later than earlier.

What are those numbers GingerFurball has in front of his lineup and batting and bowling aggression?

And can we name seperate lineups for the 2 matches?

I just realised how lacking my bowling is. My team will bat until dismissed. No declarations. We're gonna play some negative cricket because I probably have the worst team. Aim is to not lose rather than win

The numbers are referring to the batting and bowling aggression settings in the sim, which I would otherwise leave on their default setting.

And yes, you can name separate lineups - in fact I would strongly suggest you do, as these are trial matches.

2 trial games right? In that case,

Game 1

1) S Sriram
2) Murray Goodwin
3) Mark Wagh
4) Lara
5) Ryder [6]
6) McCullum [+]
7) Franklin [4]
8) Harbhajan [5]
9) Asif [1]
10) I O'Brien [3]
11) Jerome Taylor [2]

Game 2

1) Mark Wagh
2) Murray Goodwin
3) S Sriram
4) Lara
5) Ryder [6]
6) McCullum [+]
7) Franklin [4]
8) Harbhajan [5]
9) Asif [1]
10) I O'Brien [3]
11) Jerome Taylor [2]

Declare once all recognised batsmen (doesn't include Harby) are out, no nightwatchman. Ryder only bowls when theres a partnership lasting >30 overs and in spells of 5 overs. Don't want him getting injured and whatnot. Sriram bowls if theres a partnership of >200 runs :p. What exactly are the default aggression settings?

I'm assuming this is 4-day cricket.

match 1

Cook
Trescothick
Pujara 5 (aggression 1)
R Taylor
J Taylor
Broom
Haddin
Broad 1
Chapple 3
Friend 2
Cameron 4

bowlers on 6-7 aggression early on, then down to 4.

batting aggression 6 throughout unless 3+ wickets in 5 overs, in which case down to 3 for the next 10 overs or so.

match 2

Trescothick
Barath
Pujara 5 (aggression 1)
R Taylor
J Taylor
Broom
Bairstow
Broad 3
Chapple 1
de Wet 2
Randiv 4

much the same aggression rules.
