Hmm, amazed that one of them hasn't gone. Think you're forgetting that the '4th' wasn't actually the 4th though.

As for domestic gods we've barely picked enough players to form 2 world XIs!
Retentions may as well count of a certain awesomeness.

How exactly are the 2 types compared though?
Tests are the best, I think there might be a little bit of a weighting to opponents in Test cricket though, so lots of runs against Bangers is still not that great.
Then it weights it on the standard of the first class cricket the player plays, and how their record reflected against their peers indicates what sort of player they would be in a totally standardized system.

In CPL cricket there was a huge rush for any decent Aussie first class cricketer, this was pre-Ashes though so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more Yarps or Poms get snapped up domestically early on.

Hmm what are these mysterious weightings exactly?

EDIT: For instance how would a guy like Kambli be rated. High FC average but didn't play too many tests.

The best way to think about it is just pick the best players that you would if they were to play a game tomorrow. Rohit Sharma has a FC average of 60 but nobody realistically expects him to outperform ABDV whose Test/FC average are only 48 or whatever.
A - because ABDV plays a lot of cricket in South Africa which typically is a harder place to score runs than India
and
B - Because ABDV's record includes a lot of Tests which are of a higher standard than FC cricket. etc etc

If this thread was based on a sitcom it would be called Himannv in the Middle.

Or perhaps Everybody Loves Marcuss.
