I think you summarised it well.

I like How. He seems to able to play very straight at the ball whilst not losing anything in shot that he plays. His innings that he played, which sky covered was an example of this. To me he's ahead of papps at the moment.

Your country's current best test side

If we are looking for a opener why not hamish? he is already a number 3 and to me has the technique to cope at opening. What do you think Prince?

Your country's current best test side

so what you are currently say is that styris must open apart from the fact that he has HARDLY opened at 1st-class level.Langer started out as a number 3 and had the class to move, both technical and mentally. Papps and how deserve their spots because they know what facing the new-ball is about...

Your country's current best test side

If there is one thing that the NZ selectors dont seem to have learnt....yet. We need specialist openers not middle order converts. That is where we have gone wrong in the past. If that means leaving a good middle-order player out of the side...well we can't do much about it. it shows good depth.

    *Official* NZ Domestic Season

Yes i know they were one-dayers, 1)-It was poorly written, and 2)- I was combining both and bringing in 4-dayers as well.

    *Official* NZ Domestic Season

I dont know what anyone else thinks but the following has been my gripe for the last 10 years and not much has improved during that time. But the standard of first-class batting around the country is an absolute disgrace. Just look at the scores today. We have 4-day cricket but why?, no-one has...

    Pick NZ 'A' team

The one thing that the selectors need to try and establish at 'A' level is some top-order prospects.. We need to fix our top-order and in particular in test cricket. With this in mind my team is as follows: Papps Cumming Fulton Sinclair Taylor Ryder Hopkins + Franklin Yovich B.Martin M.Mason...

yes true. But it is something that they are looking at though.

I don't think that it is about him being a wicket-taker as it is about having someone who can bowl at the death. Its about replicating Chris Gayle and what he does for west indies in the slower pitches of the WI. Incidentally, what YOUR team for tomorrow Tim? id be interested in your answer?

I have always been a fan of Nathan's. They have essentially replaced someone with 15 ODI centuries, with someone who averages 25 or so in ODI domestic cricket. weird selection.

**Official** Sri Lanka in New Zealand tour I absolutely agree with you. Once we have lost Fleming against the new-ball we can't bring him back. Why not open with Vincent and How? Both are clean strikers, are agressive just what the selectors want early on in their innings.

I don't mind that team, your right i do disagree with astle. But we can't continue to be relying on players who only perform 3 or 4 times out of 10(vincent and mcmillan). We need greater consistency. Fleming position is no# 3 in 1-dayers.

I 100% agree. just because hamish was playing well doesn't mean the twin will too.Ludicrous.

Im sorry i still disagree. I agree he very talented but opening is another proposition again. I'll be surprised if he does open. Why can't we open with vincent and let him attack in those opening overs? he is a very clean striker of the ball.

    ***Official*** Australia in New Zealand

I agree Tim. We must go at them early on. Sholudn't that be the first 20 overs rather than 15? But thats another issue.

Why is james even there? I would have prefered Peter fulton. I cannot for the life of me see the reason why james is there? I do agree about astle, but he still is the key to our batting in ODI'S.
