They will justify the non selection of Ravindra by saying Phillips spins the ball the other way. But - What about Nicholls? Why are we going back to the future with these types of matches? That's why our bowling attack is aging fast with no replacements, short sighted selections.

Allen deserves to be in the team above Seifert.. He's a picked on potential guy himself, but is now late 20's. Stead and the selection committee have gambled on Allen over Guptill. They have to play him through the world cup and then re assess. I'm picking a couple years in domestic until we'll...

I don't even know how Seifert in in the NZ team. Picked on potential shown 5 years ago perhaps - but he doesn't have the numbers behind him to justify a spot in the Blackcaps. Got a couple scores against a weak SL team early this year, but that's it. To be honest I don't think NZ is a good...

Tickner bowls like an erratic 1990's fast bowler who gets picked only for pace, but he doesn't have the pace. Look for him to take 3-90 off 14..

3 bowlers? Wow we really needed to win that toss, thankfully we did. What's the bet Nicholls will score a scratchy 70 odd and buy himself another 5 tests, which for us is an entire year.

Agree, NZ Cricket is stuck in 2021 World Test Championship mindset. "Worked then, why not now?" Despite being without Boult, De Grandhomme, Watling, Jamieson, Taylor. Then you have an aging Wagner and Southee. Williamson's run production has fallen away big time also, and Nicholl's has finally...

    *Official* England in NZ 2023

The fact we picked one swing bowler, in a pink ball test, for a wicket covered for days prior to the match, shows where our strategy/planning is at. Then to bowl absolute short and wide rubbish for 2 innings was so bad to watch. NZ cricket needs a wake up call, Wagner ball + relying on...

Want some depressing reading, look at this. https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/black-caps/130896800/the-black-caps-test-team-is-ageing--heres-what-an-under30-team-might-look-like Imagine that line up going out.. I don't know how Smith wouldn't make his side. But it highlights the fact our...

Gahhh yeah not great, what has Tickner done to get into this squad? I could handle Duffy being there due to form at least. And Ish over Rippon is average, he spins the ball the same way as Ajaz also. And agree, Conway should be opening. I think I'm over Stead, we need some fresh ideas.

Group 1 (Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland)

The idea to bring out Williamson to bat with Conway is the sort of **** is why I think Stead isn't up to coach T20. Conway is your 120 strike rate/anchor guy. Williamson is that at best. We've now lost momentum and treating it like a ODI in the middle stages.

Hmm I'm not a big fan of the Tickner and Rutherford selections to be honest, and even Colin De Grandhomme. Rutherford is probably just a stop gap which is OK, but with age I would have thought a Chapman, Phillips or Cleaver (looking at the future) would have been a better option. Tickner doesn't...

I don't think Blundell is up to it.. He got his 2 hundys in great fashion, but from then he's been very poor. And that's in all international cricket. I would love Conway to take the gloves, but I think that's putting too much pressure on him. Siefert seems T20 focused, who I don't think is up...

    ***Official*** Bangladesh in NZ 2021-22

Yeah I think the completely weird role for him as number 7 all rounder role is messing with his head a bit. He's an opening bat who can bowl a few. And he's still a season or 2 away from being a test player anyway, and they are trying to nurse him into the team. NZ is down on batting all...

I also feel if Wagner didn't no ball the Mominal dismissal in the first innings when he was early on in his innings, that would have changed the game completely. He was on fire, and we then took the new ball straight away, with Boult and Southee coming on to bowl floaters and take the pressure off.

Well played Banga, perfect really. Right toss call, broke partnerships regularly, wiped out the tail quickly. Bowled great areas with pace and great energy. Batsmen played compact and patiently. Blackcaps had **** bowling plans, poor effort and energy (everyone is bowling 5-10km below...

We're making it look unplayable. Surely the pitch isn't 9-4 bad.

Lol why did we chose to bat first here? Looks like a BYC pitch.

Sorry I'll clarify - I was thinking more red ball domestic cricket. Had a crazy good record early on, averaging in the teens for the first couple seasons. Came into ODI cricket and performed very well. But he's been going backwards there.. He's never performed at test level.

Henry was crazy good when he first hit the scene. 140km, big away swing.. Potential with the bat. Not sure where it went wrong, but it's been a good 2 or 3 years since he was looking good in international cricket. He's had plenty of chances, I hope this is his last. Hopefully he takes it eh.
