    Most underrated cricketer

Ankit is our very own Ravi Ashwin of this forum. The man with smarter brain. Given Ashwin gets all the limelight and Ankit doesn't, it's clear who is underrated and overrated.

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

If everyone played the way you wanted them to, we'd be living in an imaginary world.

    Most overrated cricketer

20 years down the line people will look at Pant's record and say... ..."What's the big deal, he played alongside Kohli, Pujara and co. And he lacked a technique for xyz conditions." But the reality is he is the one who is carrying a fragile middle order for a good 2+ years now.

Test Auction Draft 2023 - Stipulation Based

You need to pick a player every round. If someone is being too greedy and bids less for all three players in anticipation of getting one of them for a low value and fails to do so then he does cop a penalty.

Test Auction Draft 2023 - Stipulation Based

For those playing for the first time here are a few more details. Priority order: Once the stipulation is set for a round, you send me three players in order of your priority along with bid values. If you happen to be the highest bidder for all three players in that round you will get player A...

Test Auction Draft 2023 - Stipulation Based

All rounder or no-rounder doesn't matter in this draft coz you can go the full 'Bharani route' and pick a team of ARs or go the other way round and pick none. Let's say I ask you to pick a player who scored X amount of runs in tests, you can pick someone who has taken 0 wickets or 300 as long...

Test Auction Draft 2023 - Stipulation Based

Yeah that's the only change I've made from the previous edition. I felt instead of saving up for one man, if that money is equally diluted towards other players it would make the draft more interesting.

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

I've gone through this thread again and I see that everyone who posted in favour of Crowe had mentioned why they rate him highly. Even @BazBall21 had his own reasoning as to why Crowe was average in certain circumstances, except.... P.S. I rate both very highly and I find comparing an opener...

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

On one hand you rate Sangakkara higher than Kallis because Sanga was more aggressive and here you are interestingly playing the defensive card. You throw away wicket playing rash shots, not defensive cricket. If someone is averaging 50 with a s/r of 82 I would take those rash shots once in a...

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

In Sehwag's case s/r is a big factor because he is wayyy ahead of the rest (barring Gilchrist). Which means he decimated attacks on his day and demotivated them and set the match up on the plate for rest of the team to take advantage of. No other opener has done that while averaging close to 50.
  13. anil1405

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

Where you put Kallis is secondary. On one hand you are saying Smith should get a leeway for having inferior s/r to Sehwag coz he played home games in swinging conditions... ... While on the other hand you accuse Kallis all across the forum for being too slow despite playing in same conditions...

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

That he is but you also emphasised a reason why Kallis is right up there with the other ATGs. Averaging 55 playing half your games in swinging conditions means more than averaging 55 or so on roads.

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

Good that you acknowledged Kallis' greatness, albeit indirectly.
  16. anil1405

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

Good for him. He doesn't have Sehwag's s/r though.

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

You know what it means to not have a high peak in comparison to other players and yet average close to 50? It emphasises consistency in my books.

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

So many factors go into rating players, people just hand pick certain criteria based on their convenience.
  19. anil1405

    Martin Crowe vs Virender Sehwag

Very few openers averaged more than Sehwag did in the 21st century and coupled that with his s/r (which is the highest ever among tests for a proper batsman) says a lot about how destructive he was. Surprised that Hayden's s/r is wayyyy lower. As @OverratedSanity pointed out, a unique player...

Test Auction Draft 2023 - Stipulation Based

This would be second edition of the test draft I ran here. Every round I will give you a stipulation to pick a player. You need to send me bids for three players in your order of priority that fit the criteria. For example if I ask you to pick a spin bowler and you send me following bids A...
