    3rd Test (Lord’s)

Losing the test the best bowler in the world wasn't even playing in was certainly elite cricket.

His dad is a millionaire and can apparently buy an opener's slot in the English cricket team.

Good to see Duckett taking on the Joe Root role here early at Lords. He's got a lovely pair of hairy earrings after that delivery.

Ahhh, yeah. I thought it was suspect at first too, but in the end wasn't completely sure if it was forward or lineball.

Dearden fully deserving of Man of the Series too, despite only playing 2 matches. Unlike the other bloke who did the same a few years back.

NSW looked good for the first 3 minutes tonight. Then it all went south.

We lost Moses and QLD lost Cherry-Evans...one of those losses was an advantage to the team losing them and the other wasn't.

NSW were awful, but QLD way too good. Didn't drop the ball until the 70th minute, which is very impressive. I knew they were going to win tonight. If they could convince themselves that an African word held some sort of mystical power over them as a team 2 years ago when most of them can...

Nah, has nothing to do with 'getting origin'. A Daley coached team can't win origin. Especially if we need to kick goals.

A couple of ordinary moments in that half from NSW, but the Morons have been too good so far.

In terms of match impact, is Botham better than Tendulkar and McGrath?

If you take away all the innings McGrath didn't average 50 with the bat, he averages 61, and that is enough to put him way ahead of Botham for mine. This is why he was known in his hometown of Narromine as 'Le magnifique haricot vert'.

    From the Pavilion

Yeah, I reckon he's too low in bowling to be a genuine all-rounder, especially given the time it takes to get them to a decent level in both main skills plus technique. It depends on what level you need his skills at to be useful in the Youth league you are in though. I aim for accomplished...

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

You'll very rarely find the curators admitting it anywhere. Occasionally you'll get a captain calling for a certain type of wicket before a series begins (looking at you Ben Stokes) and lo and behold what do you know!? Generally though, not even the captains are stupid enough to telegraph that...

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

The alarming thing for England is they learnt nothing from the Ashes 2 years ago. Trotted out 2 roads against us and were 2-0 down going into the 3rd test. Trot out 2 roads this time and are 1-1 and lucky not to be 2-0 down.

He was trying to save the life of a rare and endangered tree frog that had wandered onto the track. He should be elevated to 1st and given a medal IMO.

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Well, we used to. I am not sure this is true now though. They became a bit too same same-ish when we went to drop ins in many places. I prefer them the way they are now with a bit in them for the bowlers though instead of that period when we had little rain and hard boring roads almost...

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

They should have left them there for the match itself. The pace bowlers would have got some assistance, and every time the umpire spoke, they would have done so in that funny vibrato voice you get when you speak through the back of a fan.

I think you almost certainly would have too. For us it was a huge relief, but then we also know that it would have probably turned out differently if he was there and bowling.

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

It literally says "has been prepared to offer “good bounce and pace” true to the tradition of the fiery tracks in Perth" in the 2nd paragraph. Just because it suggests it will be difficult for India doesn't mean it has strayed from the norm. The Perth pitch in its heyday at the WACA was always...
