    Mundane sightings of high-profile cricketers

Mark Chapman, just now at Daily Bread in Stonefields. Unsure if he bought one of the hot cross buns which are nice but nowhere near as good as the Beabeas bakery ones ftr

That's a bit better. Nice second goal

    2026 World Cup Qualifiers

0-0 at halftime and our guys looking frustrated. Has the feel of a game that New Caledonia could easily snatch with a breakaway goal/set piece/sloppy bit of NZ defending, we don't look super confident at the back. Not really creating much either other than set pieces in the last 25 minutes or so.

As just demonstrated by that six over fine leg. A top edge is basically always going to carry over the fielder here

Thing is though, it's really deep fine leg that's useless at Eden Park. The boundaries are so short anyway that if it flies 10m wide of the fielder it's 4 anyway, but having him there takes up one of your boundary riders. So you might as well have him inside the circle and put someone else out.

"Glenn Phillips coming in now because he's such a good player of spin" says Mark Richardson on commentary. Seriously, what ****ing game do these guys watch

What's the replay showing it deflecting a mile then if not evidence?

That's very clearly out, but oooh boy it's going to cause some controversy

It's ended up being a very enjoyable game this, the swings from one side to the other have been pretty extreme

Maybe Kyle Jamieson too, though I think he put on 10 ks during the transition from first class to test cricket rather than after his international debut

I'm sure there's a whole bunch of them but no good example is coming immediately to mind. Iain O'Brien maybe? James Franklin (until he lost it again)?

Foulkes' figures look horrible here but I think he's actually been pretty unlucky. First over he beat them for pace with his bouncer, had an lbw shout turned down - that I thought looked really close, I don't know why we didn't see any Hawkeye replay of it - had an inside edge go for 4 and a...

Urgh I was looking forward to seeing Hay bat, haven't seen much of him. Doesn't really bode well if he can't pick a pretty standard wrongun

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

An absolute thrashing and a reminder of the downsides of the way England play - we've heard a lot about the upsides of it this series due to the way the first two tests went, but this sort of performance has always been the flip side. For NZ meanwhile I'm sure we'll hear a lot about small...

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

O'Rourke's figures in this series are an absolute travesty and a perfect demonstration of why blind analysis by statistics is totally stupid. He's all over every batsman, making them jump all over the show, goes past the outside edge, hits them in the body, has them French cutting past the...

That makes delightful reading...except for the god-awful "Outs". What the ****ing **** is that word? They're called wickets. Or dismissals. Outs is non-cricket garbage and whoever designed that graphic needs to be eliminated immediately.

The way this tour has gone, I expect England to chase this 5 down. After being 30/4.

Is it just me or is there a hint of a kink in Bethell's elbow when he bowls

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Find it a bit strange that everyone's calling for Southee to come out now for a benefit slog, given that everyone was also complaining that he shouldn't be selected because it's a proper Test match not a benefit game.
