I never really understood why people thought he was in the running. From memory, his experiences with Pakistan soured him quite a bit on coaching. Admittedly, NZC is no PCB in that department (thankfully!), but still. They'll talk about it being an open process, but let's be real - unless he...

Yeah! The fact that women's stats are so opaque unless you have a CricketArchive sub is really sad. Hypocaust is a legend in this field, but it shouldn't be this difficult. Which woman has scored the most T20 runs? Cricinfo says Bates, & they might well be correct, but their data is so spotty...

I like to think that someone had a chat with Germon to pick his brain about what Cricket NSW gets from their partnership with Washington Freedom to see what it's all about.

Reading through this, it actually sounds like more than a development-type strategic deal that CV & CNSW already have with SFU & WF. This sounds like NZC is actually stumping up a bit of cash for this as well as consulting on infrastructure & even turf prep. That'll be interesting. Of course...

This looks to be a similar deal to the relationship Cricket Victoria & Cricket NSW have with two of the current MLC teams, I think the Unicorns & Freedom.

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

I was trying to remember who I named in my PS All-Stars Squad. I did find it: Raval (c), Kelly (vc), Bruce, Cleaver (wk), Hampton, Jacobs, Lennox, Mariu, Tickner, van Beek, Wagner, Younghusband

Splitting coaches would be OK if we had a predictable schedule & less of a player overlap. The fact that we don't have a predictable schedule (outside the FTP) & that the formats are generally interspersed among each other makes it logistically challenging. One of the reasons I've never been...

10 Tests: 2 vs India (H) 4 vs Australia (A) 2 vs Sri Lanka (H) 2 vs Pakistan (A) The Pakistan series, I think, starts in Feb 27. The main upside with the SA series is that it's our first bilateral T20Is with them in nearly a decade (the Tri Series in Zimbabwe would be our first T20Is...

I'm guessing the List A leg will consist of potential bolters for the 2027 WC to get them some experience in African conditions. On this level, it's a bit sad that the ODI leg of the Zimbabwe tour has been shelved. The FC leg of the tour, on the other hand, I suspect will see players who...

I don't think it's happening. Didn't we see here some stuff about a tour to South Africa?

Stead's gotta go. 7 years is long enough - an extension to the next WC would make it 9 years. As far as replacements go, Walter isn't the worst - he's known to the setup, knows the players, & hopefully has a vision of where to go forward.

NZ seems happy to field "2nd string" sides to play white ball series that clash with the IPL, but refuses to do the same with Tests. I think I remember reading about last year, CSA suggested that our Test series against them be moved to April, with both teams losing players to the IPL. NZC point...

Seifert's never really been viewed as a potential ODI guy. As it is, I'm guessing one of the reasons he got called in was because these last two ODIs are in ND country & he'll be at home. As it was, this is what, over 6 years after his one series?

I just watched a podcast with Jarrod Kimber where he ended up talking for a bit about how NZ gets screwed in terms of hosting ICC events. Highlight quotes:

I'm not surprised. It's the terrible, "path of least change" option. My ideal would've been for the waterfront stadium & to remodel Eden Park as a 20-25k cricket ground, but hey.

I still don't rate Rachin as a T20 player. It's just lucky for him that he seems to like Asian conditions & that this upcoming one is in Asia.

I tried looking through the stats for women's T20s at Eden Park. They weren't all that helpful, with such a small number of matches: from my count it was 4 WT20Is (1 washed out, ironically featuring Australia) & I believe 4 domestic T20s, where the highest score was 146.
