    South Africa team selection

Behind a paywall but there is a scorecard here: https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/1375/1375598.html Lions appear to have named 12 to play so it's not first class. And no Hull, wasn't he supposed to be there? Still injured? Coach's son gets a game, though.

    English Domestic Season 2025

ECB trying to crack down on No Objection Certificates (IPL exempt naturally) for tournaments that clash with the English domestic season against mutterings restraint of trade and threats of legal action. Unless the player has a white ball only contract with their county.

Where will Jacob Bethell end up being ranked?

    Wishful thinking?

Where will Jacob Bethell end up being ranked?

He has hit the ground running in T20 for England, less so in the 50 over format. He will either mature into an all format player or go the way of Buttler and Livingstone etc. His test career may well end abruptly if England move away from bazball and toward more calculated and less intuitive...

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Agreed. Afterall Bethell's good, to quote Michael Vaughan: "Jacob Bethel .. Serious young player .. His dad used to be my captain at Sheffield Collegiate." https://x.com/MichaelVaughan/status/1486382420500885508 But agree with @Fuller Pilch .... It will be interesting if he gets a big score...

    **Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

If he fails it effectively means Root is batting at 3. Remember Vaughan's test debut in South Africa, batted at 4, but was in at the end of the second over 2-2 fast becoming 2-4 when Stewart and Butcher were also out...

    English Domestic Season 2025

Fixtures generally: Pretty similar and much as expected but no Sunday is designated as available for the National Counties to play a First Class county prior to the Metro Bank. That's a shame and a step back, imo, and although I wouldn't say it possibly an oversight by the NCCA but I guess...

    English Domestic Season 2025

agree with your assessment from my trips there, except it's a bit out of town but still walkable. However only ever saw more than a dozen present when Lancashire played Hertfordshire in the Nat West Trophy - those were the days.

    English Domestic Season 2025

Been Radlett half a dozen plus times between 1999 and 2016 mainly to watch Lancashire 2nds play before moving back up North. It is a shortish or more walk from the mainline train station. Not sure where they would put up any raised seating but things may have changed.

Pravin Tambe played at 44. First selected at 41. Brad Hogg would have been older, Muralitharan and Imran Tahir over 40 as well.

from cricinfo ....Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at 13, is the youngest player to be picked at an IPL auction. He had made his Ranji debut when he was 12 and was more recently picked in the India Under-19s....

    IPL Auction

Like any auction, needs to be just two people interested at whatever level, even an unknown can go for triple their asking price. I've always thought they favour Aussies in particular, but I suspect that might change when their franchises get their hands on the ECB franchises.

Maybe it's Lancashire's problem.... Ponting on Shreyas Iyer “I think we knew Shreyas, Pant and KL Rahul were going to attract big money. I wanted to work with Shreyas. I've worked with him before and he is a great guy and a great player. He'll be a great leader for our team if we decide to...
