Rugby World Cup Tipping Comp

I did consider setting a comp up on OzTips, but the site only allows for predictions of win, lose or draw &, as a lot of the games in the early stages are bound to be mismatches, I thought it'd be more interesting if we did in tipping in-thread.

My proposal is this: we tip the winners and the margin of victory, with more points awarded depending on the closeness of the prediction to the actual result.

As an example, the first game is France v Argentina. You predict: France by 10 points or however many you think they (or Argentina) will win by.

Points awarded thusly:

Spot-on prediction: 10 points

1-7 points out: 5 points

8-14 points out: 3 points

Correct outcome: 1 point

NB: no points for incorrect tip, regardless of narrowness of result.

So blindling simple even a league fan could understand it. Fixtures for the first week:

7 September:
France v Argentina

8 September:
England v USA
Australia v Japan
New Zealand v Italy

9 September:
Ireland v Namibia
Wales v Canada
South Africa v Samoa
Scotland v Portugal

11 September:
Argentina v Georgia

12 September:
Italy v Romania
USA v Tonga
Japan v Fiji

All welcome, tip at your leisure.

Do you wanna have a crack at the margins of victory too? Otherwise you're limiting the points you can score from each game to one.

Another option is to use Telecomvirtualrugby.co.nz

Does the margins option

Allows you to be in a group challenge as well as giving an overall ranking.
