Are we nominating great players or players who played well in World Cups? If it's the latter, then it's more than 32.

Anyway, I'll nominate or second some of those nations' players.

I was going for the latter, really. Obviously any sample of 32 is going to mean some noteable omissions, but I think 64 might be spreading it a little thin, especially given the relatively small group of union fans on here for voting purposes.

Any road I make it 30 now nominated & seconded:

Jonah Lomu
Michael Jones
Sean Fitzpatrick
Grant Fox
Andrew Mehrtens
Doug Howlett
John Kirwan

David Campese
John Eales
Tim Horan
Chris Latham
Michael Lynagh
Stephen Larkham
Matt Burke
Nick Farr-Jones
George Gregan

Martin Johnson
Jonny Wilkinson
Jason Leonard

Francois Pienaar
Joost van der Westhuizen
Joel Stransky
Chester Williams

Serge Blanco
Phillipe Sella
Olivier Magne

Keith Wood
Brian O’Driscoll

Gavin Hastings

Ieuan Evans

The follwoing have been nominated:

Christophe Dominici
Frederic Michalak
Daniel Dubroca
Jean Condom
Eric Champ
Laurent Rodriguez
Phillipe Saint-Andre
Jean-Luc Sadourny
Christian Califano
Abdel Benazzi
Serge Betsen
Fabien Pelous

Joe Roff
Lote Tuqiri
Jason Little
Simon Poidevin

Joe Rokocoko
Mils Muliaina
Marc Ellis
Buck Shelford
Frank Bunce
Zinzan Brooke
Ian Jones

Diego Cuesta Silva
Patricio Noriega
Federico Mendez
Hugo Porta

Jonathan Davies
Robert Norster
Robert Jones

Rupeni Caucaunibuca

Jason Robinson

Os du Randt
Mark Andrews
James Small
Andre Joubert
Cobus Visagie

Round One

Finally we have our quorum:

Jonah Lomu
Michael Jones
Sean Fitzpatrick
Grant Fox
Andrew Mehrtens
Doug Howlett
John Kirwan

David Campese
John Eales
Tim Horan
Chris Latham
Michael Lynagh
Stephen Larkham
Matt Burke
Nick Farr-Jones
George Gregan

Martin Johnson
Jonny Wilkinson
Jason Leonard
Jason Robinson

Francois Pienaar
Joost van der Westhuizen
Joel Stransky
Chester Williams

Serge Blanco
Phillipe Sella
Olivier Magne

Keith Wood
Brian O’Driscoll

Gavin Hastings

Ieuan Evans

Hugo Porta

The draw has been made totally at random & I'll be running two battles per day for the first round. Ok:

Battle One:

Jason Leonard (England)

vs

Brian O'Driscoll (Ireland)

Battle Two:

Grant Fox (New Zealand)

vs

David Campese (Australia)

So it's England's fun bus, the former world record test caps holder & veteren of four WC campaigns against the pride of Ireland & the All Black's point machine, whose boot inspired them to the title in 1987 versus the mouth of the south whose deliberate knock-on inspired Oz to the title in 1991...

Voting lasts 24 hours.
