A team you wouldn't like to play

If there was one team that you could avoid in the knockouts, which team would it be?

for me i wouldn't like the all blacks to face southafrica.
(australia have a poor record in nz, especially at eden park iirc, so would rather we play them than SA)

SA have an even worse record in NZ and a far worse record at Eden Park. SA haven't won at Eden Park in 74 years.

Aussie haven't won there since the 80s. The most recent loss was to the French in 94.

So clearly the French

From an NZ point of view you could argue for any of South Africa (who have beaten us twice in NZ since the last World Cup), Australia (who I think most believed, at least before yesterday, had the best side at the tournament behind the ABs) and France (for their unpredictability and record against us in recent WCs). Given we can only meet France in a knockout match in the final, its less likely that'll eventuate and I doubt the French can win three knockout matches on the trot anyway. I still think Australia are our most dangerous opposition despite their loss against Ireland. Bring back Pocock, Moore, Ioane and Mitchell, and actually play with a reasonable gameplan, and they still look the most threatening to our chances.

Yeah, pretty much.

I'd prefer England avoiding SA until late on too.

The good news is, provided we beat l'Écosse and NZ & SA win their remaining pool games, we shouldn't have to play either until the final.
