Pool A - Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Tonga

Even if NZ lose to Canada they'd finish first with 15 points.
Yeah, but there's no way your blokes are taking a dive against Canada.

Moot point if France slot this pen anyway.

EDIT: They aren't kicking it. WTF? This is bizarro world.

2nd EDIT: Scored the try anyway. 19-14 Tonga. France advance.

Tonga! :) Rather embarrassing from the French but take nothing away from Tonga, an absolutely sensational moment for them. Could've been even worse for the French had Tonga converted a few golden opportunities in the second half. Loved the enthusiasm at the end from Taumalolo and co.

As for Carter thats a major worry. I think it'd be more worthwhile at least starting with Weepu at 10 but it appears Slade has got the nod. Not sure about the extent of the injury yet but doesn't look promising.

Couldn't quite understand France's logic either when a penalty would've done just as much as good as a try; then again this is France after all...

Strong AB performance in the first half against Canada. Bit of a mixed bag from Slade with a few errors, some tough kicks at goal, and some nice touches in between. Kaino very powerful so far and nice to see Guildford having such an impact - Dagg's hardly touched the ball in comparison. This is typical Guildford though, to look brilliant against a weak team. Nice to see Canada get a try just before halftime, they dominated territory and after finally holding their own in a scrum worked a good move to score.

Horrible pass from Cowan that lead to the second Canadian try, it must be said. Must've been a foot over Guildford's head.

EDIT: Lol. & scores immediately. Great work from SBW & Smith to set it up.

Pretty comprehensive effort. A bit scrappy at the start of the second half with a number of loose passes, several from Cowan, but really Canada were no match for the ABs. Thought Weepu had a good 25 minute cameo at number 10 and was more reassured in the position than Slade; not to mention his goalkicking was perfect. Guildford's four tries gives the selectors a few questions as to who to leave out - with Kahui basically assured of a spot on the wing, perhaps Jane's spot might be under fire.

Some utter rubbish from Slade in that match. Would love to see his pass completion %. Yes, he made a couple of good passes, but he made more at his team mates' ankles.
